Malcolm Bright is a gifted criminal psychologist, using his twisted genius to help the NYPD solve crimes and stop killers, all while dealing with a manipulative mother, a serial killer father still looking to bond with his prodigal son and his own constantly evolving neuroses. Bright's only ally is his sister, Ainsley, a TV journalist who wishes her brother would take a break from murder and have a normal life. Unfortunately for his sister, the only way Bright feels normal is by solving cases with the help of his longtime mentor, NYPD Detective Gil Arroyo. Arroyo's one of the best detectives around, and he expects no less from his team, which includes Detective JT Tarmel, a born-and-bred New Yorker who questions whether Bright is a psychopath himself.

The series has not only maintained the fun, thrilling, humorous stories and characters that we love but elevated what we adore and expanded and strived to make itself better. Go to Full Review

Michael Sheen's performance on this [premiere] is fantastically unhinged. He creates an entire arc for Martin in a single episode beginning with him being at wits end in the general population, ending with his revelations about Malcolm. Go to Full Review

Laura L @lauralp Jan 11 Please we need a season 3 #returnofprodigalson See more Jennifer M @Jennym1982 03/09/2025 The second Season was as good as the first season the Chericter 's really became there own. I wished Fox never canceled it, There was more story to tell. I am re watching it on HBO MAX, And it is still as good when I watched it the first time. Except No camercels or T.V. ads. On the streaming network. If you like murder, Mystery and Family Drama this show has it all. See more alice c @RT32332850 03/09/2023 Season 2 builds on season 1 in exciting ways, I'm utterly hooked. See more 02/25/2022 The pilot was stunning. Reminded me of Hannibal (which is a good thing). This series had a great pace and I love it. Not too much too fast or too soon- the story unfolded perfectly and remained entertaining throughout albeit somewhat predictable. But I think it's that I've seen one too many cop shows and horror movies (you know how you're screaming for them to run out the door but they run upstairs- like what are you doing lol) I love that it exists in a parallel universe and it's contemporary I think it makes it even more entertaining however why include the Covid pandemic and quarantining if you're not also going to wear masks (which I wouldn't mind) but anyway. The show has one relevant episode to current events and the agitated neo "conservatives" scream WOKE like its the plague or Covid (lol). You can just imagine the lives of the people miserable over a tv show when they only need to focus their energy on solutions then they wouldn't be inundated with the PROBLEMS. Misery is the root of all misery. Enjoy! See more valerie f @RT71230908 11/25/2021 Honestly, the first season started out a bit slow, but it really picked up and I absolutely love it! So upset that it wasn't picked up for a third season. Hopefully another network will take it over! See more 11/07/2021 Absolutely loved this show, really hope it gets picked up again!!!!
