Critics Consensus

Ragdoll avoids feeling like yet another serial killer caper sewn together from better thrillers, thanks in part to its dry humor and killer cast chemistry.

It's not like any other crime drama out there: it's not even like itself, most of the time. Go to Full Review

You will know within 10 minutes whether the operatic ultraviolence, black comedy and arch, very nearly overwritten dialogue make you wriggle with joy or combust with irritation. Go to Full Review

This dark but witty oddball serial-killer drama is just what you'd hope for from the producers of Killing Eve. Go to Full Review

Ragdoll is one of the stranger police-procedural shows I’ve seen. I went in expecting a straight-laced mystery but the tonal shifts are so wild, at times you feel like you’re watching a surreal comedy. Go to Full Review

Based on Daniel Cole's 2017 novel of the same name, Ragdoll serves up a little bit of everything for dramedy and crime thriller lovers. Go to Full Review

The Ragdoll Killer presents an interesting case, but there’s so much thrown into the mix that we get the feeling the mystery is going to suffer under a pile of quips and contrivances. Go to Full Review

Ru W Nov 27 Loved Ragdoll series 1. It was captivating and the actors were convincing with (often dark) quick, witty interchanges. There was a high level of anatomic and pathological detail, along with interesting chemistry that made the crimes more surreal and thrilling (if slightly gross!). Many enjoy a dark crime thriller, especially now coming into the dark winter months and this is a series with legs. It's likely to form an almost "cult" like audience. I do not think it is too similar to Killing Eve. I see the humour as much more contained within the police who use the humour as an armour. As opposed to the dark humour in K.E being spread across almost all aspects. There's a level of seriousness that touches a lot on mental health, love and feminism that should be applauded. It is sewn throughout the series alongside the strands of chaotic serial killing, personal vendettas and scary ideology. Some parts are far fetched and too lightly detailed. But overall I felt the shoot locations, the acting and the make up (pardon the irony) and humour all add up to a full box of popcorn ready to be munched. Sweet and salted. See more Lucy C Jun 20 There were parts of me that felt this was good (some dark humor, splashes of pretty inventive horror/killings and patter between the detectives) and then I would turn off the TV, reflect and realise it was an absolute load of over styled nonsense. See more Julian B Jun 16 What a bore. Nothing happens just a load of disjointed scenes separated by loud music and rubbish dialogue. The two main cops are about as authentic as a counterfeit painting. See more Quentin M 06/06/2023 So busy trying to be "cool" that it fails to be either funny or dramatic in any engaging sense. Clearly an American show masquerading as British. Stand-and-deliver tosh. See more peter w 05/22/2023 Could not make sense of it not in the same class as killing Eve See more martin t 03/18/2022 BORING, the plot took too many serial killers and merged them.
