Even Michael B. Jordan's role is so insignificant that it feels like a glorified cameo and a way for Netflix to try and salvage some viewers for this show. I would be shocked if Netflix renewed it for a second season.

In essence, the series feels like two different shows that are being forced to go hand in hand, and it all feels a little jarring.

Nobody acts like an actual person. They act like they are in a sitcom or a weak drama, though in the early going Simon and Ritter, as Kat and Pat, at least come off as vaguely normal and believable.

Splicing family drama with comic-book action produces some engaging story beats, but the friction between the two genres eventually makes the show fall apart.
