Critics Consensus

Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness's superb animation captures the visceral thrills of its terrifying source material - if only the story were as gripping as the moments of terror.

The four episodes of INFINITE DARKNESS seemed really long to me. I enjoyed the action and the visual style was sharp but they also seemed kind of clunky. The story seemed pretty haphazard for being as straight forward as it was and the stakes didn't seem very important for being as high as they were. I never got a sense of the video games from the Mila Jovovich movies, and didn't with this one either. The movies, however established their own style and sought to outdo the previous with every episode. this series seems to have ended without ever beginning or going anywhere as it progressed.

Infinite Darkness is plain boring, I love the resident evil games, but this show sucks. There are a few exciting scenes, instead, it is chock full of shallow dialog that makes you question what the writers were trying to go for. The mood is not consistent, and the puns and witty one-liners are cringe-worthy and beg characters, especially Leon, to be seen as jokes, when the other characters drool over the "hero of the president's daughter." There is a failure to capture tension because the audience sees what happens before the characters, then the characters show little emotion about major plot moments. If you are looking for fan service of the Resident Evil games, you will get very little of it, with a few mentions of the events from Resident Evil 2. The characters are very hollow for the show doesn't take time to develop characters. The rendering also doesn't look great at times, and there is heavy compression, or a "lot of fuzzy outline" often. Some scenes also are quite ugly, with the color plate being flat and gray in most scenes. It feels as though the visuals crutch on the appearance of Leon and Claire. I'm a huge fan of Resident Evil, and the show felt like a waste of time. The Resident Evil series is best kept to the games because the shows fail to capture the horror the games bring.

The plot was a bit of a disappointment; it lacks the "suspense" and "action" factor. The ending was also a downer-cliffhanger of some sort.

    the plot really suck.

    Story good, graphics soooo bad

    Let's stick to videogames.

I had high hopes for this series, and there's quite a lot about it that I liked, but ultimately I cannot call this a success. The CGI is sometimes very good, the political backstory is quite engaging and the few moments of horror present are generally somewhat effective, but the series simply has way too little material to fill the run time, so there are, instead, long drawn-out conversations that only serve to waste time. Yes, I love dialogue-heavy movies (which this ultimately is, just split into 4 parts) but almost all of this dialogue does not add dimension to the characters or the story, or even help build tone. There's also very little action, only a few "setpieces", so to speak, and the climax, while certainly not boring, is actually kinda lame. Especially because Leon decides to fight a villain that...isn't QUITE a villain, as he is ultimately correct, and isn't even looking to cause the deaths of innocents! This, to me, was the last straw that officially made it go from Kinda Good to Somewhat Bad, and it's sad really. Still, if there is a Season 2, I'll be very happy to watch it.

Pior Cutscene com gráficos de PS2 que já vi. Extremamente datada e mal escrita, tentem pular ela, mas não dava.

This was the biggest disappointment since the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy after waiting months for this. The story was not only poorly paced but absolutely pointless, and the character development was inexistent even considering the pre-existing media. Even the action scenes were boring and unoriginal. The only thing good about it was the animation and absence of passive aggressive political undertones.

I avoided this series because I am afraid of zombies, but after watching this, I've come to like it. I learned about the relationship between Leon and Claire on the Internet. I wondered if Leon didn't want to involve Claire in the final scene. I am expecting another series. I hope Leon and Claire will fight together next time.
