This dramatic series focuses on the Santiagos, an East Los Angeles family with a boxing tradition. Father Roberto, a widower, worries about his children all taking different paths in life. Oldest son Miguel tries to be a great manager, while youngest son Alex replaces his brother, Carlos, in boxing. Roberto also has two daughters, Yolanda and Victoria.

As a one-of-a-kind creation, though, it has a pioneer's burden to offer a more balanced depiction of this burgeoning, richly varied segment of California than the one given here. The pilot is excellent, and the episodes are well done, though more and more they progressively wallow in soap opera antics.
