After having been missing for nearly 20 years, Rick Sanchez suddenly arrives at daughter Beth's doorstep to move in with her and her family. Although Beth welcomes Rick into her home, her husband, Jerry, isn't as happy about the family reunion. Jerry is concerned about Rick, a sociopathic scientist, using the garage as his personal laboratory. In the lab, Rick works on a number of sci-fi gadgets, some of which could be considered dangerous. But that's not all Rick does that concerns Jerry. He also goes on adventures across the universe that often involve his grandchildren, Morty and Summer.

No episode ever feels like it's doing the same thing as one from a previous season and that does a lot of heavy lifting in helping things feel new again. Go to Full Review

Even though Season 9's experiment doesn't quite mesh well with the show, the standalone episodes themselves are interesting and humorous enough to feel like a typical joyride through space and time, Rick and Morty-style. Go to Full Review

While the writing, performances, and animation continue to be brilliant, there’s a darkness lurking that suggests Grandpa may never escape his ongoing existential torment. Go to Full Review

Jackie H @45Jkey 18h Its fine. Its Rick & Morty. Its.. Fine. See more PROfessional T @RT55809921 1d Rick and Morty season 9, is a precise bolstering of every issue the writers made the show have combined into one. Rick and Morty as a show with it's entire premise originally, was the deep emotional weight, character development and story, through episodic chaos. It managed to do this with evil morty and space beth and is revered for this concept of being a comedy show, that can still develop characters emotionally and psychologically, while making real world references and references to it's own past episodes. This season's first episode is essentially a gut punch to that golden formula that kept on working with everything that the show has wrong. By slaughtering a deep character with negligible weaknesses in episode one, yet delivering a perfect story arc in episode 2, I don't know how to feel about this show anymore. The way the writers of the show make meta commentary, no longer as real comedy, but essentially as reassurance for their shortcomings, feels like wasted potential. See more Brendan T. @JackTheSipper712 2d One of the best seasons in years See more Bill C @BillC1618 3d I'm still waiting for the show to get formulaic, but it keeps reinventing itself. Season 9 comes out with blind side punches that absolutely slay! See more Samuel C @RT56278889 4d I’m trying to give Rick and Morty Season 9 a fair chance, but something feels off. Rick feeling purposeless could actually be interesting, but the show doesn’t seem to know what to do with him. Morty feels like he has regressed, becoming more helpless, whiny, and less shaped by everything he’s been through. The episodes so far feel overloaded with anime-style action, shock humor, and random spectacle, but the stories themselves feel weak. Rick and Morty has always been chaotic, but the chaos used to reveal something about the characters and carry emotional weight. This season feels like it’s throwing everything at the screen, including the kitchen sink, without the focus or heart that made the show special. It’s flashy and loud, but strangely shallow. I’ll keep watching, but right now it feels less like the show evolving and more like it is imitating itself. See more Mayank C @RT22934259 Jun 4 This show has no business being this consistently funny and dark. Brilliant sci-fi concepts mixed with completely unhinged family dynamics. A wild ride from start to finish! See more Read all reviews
