On the most basic foundational level, Williams' choice to adopt this premise tends to the issue of disjointedness that's been the primary bugaboo for the season thus far.
We learned something very important this week: This entire time that teens have been fighting crime, talking to corpses, and dismantling bombs, all they needed was a good guidance counselor!! Gina Torres, where have you been?!
Over four seasons, Riverdale has put its young ensemble through a full-on Macy's Thanksgiving parade of trauma floats and lip-synced grief musical numbers. But this unusual little episode decides, for once, to take all the pain they've suffered seriously.
In every case, the main actors bring it, delving deep into their characters and performances to show real emotion and acting chops that aren't always on display between the gang violence, secret societies and bear attacks.
The characters achieved so many breakthroughs and delivered one of the best Riverdale episodes ever.
