Audience Reviews for Riverdale: Season 5

Rating is for Seasons 1-5. I have been loving Riverdale until this season. I dislike musicals in general. It's just never seemed right people spontaneously breaking into song; makes it hard to suspend my disbelief. I much prefer the Criminal Mindsesque story arcs. Further, the music is not good music. And it's ubiquitous. It reminds me in places of Amal and the Night Visitors, dissonant, but the productions I've seen of the stage show require real musicianship; while the music in Riverdale is not great, and not 100% completely on key. I liked the introduction of Jughead and his dad, and the Serpents. I like the detective work, and the darkness, the episodes that concentrate on Betty and the Coopers, and the Blossoms. I LIKE the darkness. Unfortunately, the music seems intended to balance out the darkness. If the music were limited to the stage, it would work. But formatting the series as a musical feels forced and very, very unfun, very Stepford wives meets the X-Files. I probably won't watch any more after Season 5, but I most certainly will rewatch the first few seasons.

Started out fantastic and lead straight back into the usual! So aggravated that we couldn't have a fresh take in the character's new beginnings as adults into darker futures.

The musicals suck and the season is all over the place. River dale was fantastic until this season.

From the start I knew this was going to be awful. I have no idea how this series has survived after season 4 but here we are. where do I start the series feels like an Canadian hollyoaks crossed with a Gcse drama performance. The series feels dry with poor writing the first episode to put it nicely was hard to watch with sentaces like "the accident" and "i caught serial killers in high school" making it feel crindgey. The themes of wartime trauma and Betty's mental state again made it feel like a Gcse performance with little to no imagination. Next season the writers should write in a serial killer who actually kills the whole cast and finally put an end to this outdated series.

Abandoned half way through... Stuck through 4 seasons, but this one is just outright ludicrous. What's with the random musical episodes?! Honestly become one of the worst TV time investments I've made, so disappointed
  • Nov 14, 2021
It was actually decent until it became a ridiculous nauseating opera. Singing lines, like every scene is a song. It was the worst season finale I have ever seen. If they continue to sing the scenes, I am out as it's pathetic, and not what the show has been.

    Rating: 7/10. 79/100

Season 1 was great, 2 was chaos and 3-5 was like watching a show written by meth addicts. Riverdale is a comedy now, constantly one upping itself on insane storylines and famously known for cramming 50 separate plots into an episode. The fact Roberto still has a job astounds me, let alone the fact that he keeps getting new shows off the ground. I love Riverdale and if watching Cheryl declare herself as "Queen of the Bee's" wasn't the last straw, then so do you...

Seasons 1-4 were great! But you can't even get through 1 episode without singing. Like season 1-4 there were a couple episodes a season with just singing, that was good, that was enough, But season 5, it's every episode. There's no context, nothing interesting. Just singing. Can't even watch it and enjoy the context anymore.

The schow started out great but this, what is this!?
