Roadkill: Season 1 (2020)

Season 1

Critics Consensus

Hugh Laurie is reliably solid, but Roadkill is riddled with plot holes -- though those okay with a bumpy ride may find it a diverting enough drive.

    Oof, that was Rotten.

    Meh, it passed the time.

Critic Reviews for Roadkill Season 1

All Critics (31) | Top Critics (13)

What Roadkill has to offer are a few standout performances, as Peter dodges fire from all sides. Laurie is, as is often the case, outstanding as a creep who gets by on his charm and/or brilliance.

Rather than portray Peter Laurence as a Conservative with a different conception of the good, he is simply a bad person.

I am finding it utterly delicious, like a bowl of chilli-infused olives that I cannot stop guzzling.

Oct 21, 2020 | Full Review…

Even with its salacious elements, the bottom line is Roadkill simply feels tame relative to the Trump/Brexit era of US and U.K. politics.

It's very twisty, this one, and a rather cynical but generally entertaining take on contemporary British politics.

Nov 2, 2020 | Full Review…

Predictable, it certainly is, but there is something quite riveting in watching this man's downfall.

Nov 23, 2020 | Rating: 3/5 | Full Review…

Doesn't have quite the tension of The Undoing, nor does it have the wide range of talent. But it does have Laurie, some fine supporting actors and a wicked script that captures the sleaziness of politics today.

Nov 20, 2020 | Full Review…

While feeling a little like House of Cards-lite, Roadkill's Machiavellian political machinations are sold by Laurie's charismatic, yet creepy performance.

Nov 9, 2020 | Full Review…

Wouldn't it be great if there were another show as worthy of the gifts of Hugh Laurie, 61, as his hit series House? Now there is! Theater great and Oscar nominee David Hare presents this cleverly plotted, utterly cynical four-part miniseries.

Nov 6, 2020 | Full Review…

As soapy as Roadkill is, it has a great cast going for it, led by the always watchable Hugh Laurie.

Nov 4, 2020 | Full Review…

Roadkill is quite thrilling on its inaugural outing. Many characters are introduced and no one is really who they seem to be. Clandestine alliances and surprising connections make for an engaging story that goes in all sorts of directions.

Nov 3, 2020 | Rating: 3.25/5 | Full Review…

Laurie has charm enough to compensate for his character's flaws.

Once again Hugh Laurie plays an arrogant prat, just how I Ike him! Great show and I hope there is another series to be made!

    Superb script brilliantly acted

    Needs more Dawn and Julia
  • Nov 05, 2020
Roadkill is good in parts of course but far fetched plot and a few characters well over acting rather spoils it.
