The action is intense, the pacing rarely slows down, and the Tarantino-esque moments give it a wild, unpredictable energy without overwhelming the story. What surprised me most was the character development. The soldiers are not presented as simple heroes—they are complicated, reckless, funny, damaged, and often difficult, which makes them far more interesting. The show balances violence, dark humor, emotion, and history extremely well. It is stylish, unconventional, and completely addictive. I've dropped one star due to the portrayal of Paddy Mayne though. Whilst no one denies he was a bristly character and even more so when drunk he was well regarded as a brilliant strategist and unerringly brave soldier, he was also a qualified solicitor so much less of the one dimensional thug being portrayed here. In addition O'Connell doesn't have the imposing stature to represent him (although he's a great actor) as you have to remember Paddy was an British Lion prior to the war.
