The SWAT team acts as a domestic surveillance unit for the CIA to confirm whether an international crime lord has resurfaced in Los Angeles after being off-grid for years.
Hondo is conflicted when Leroy, his incarcerated friend and Darryl's father, asks him to speak on his behalf at a parole hearing. Also, SWAT helps the FBI track down a mob informant on the run from the crime family he is meant to testify against, and the team dynamic becomes complicated when Street and Tan sign up for a leadership competition Chris has been training months for.
The team searches for a rogue member of an extremist group planning to attack the memorial service of a famous musician who was outspoken about police brutality; tension mounts when Leroy is released from prison early.
Hondo is conflicted when the mayor asks him to be the public face of a new outreach campaign meant to improve the LAPD's stature within the Black community. Also, the team's search for a lone bomber reminds Tan of a difficult chapter in his childhood, and Chris pushes herself even further to surpass Street and Tan in a SWAT leadership competition.
The SWAT team goes on the hunt for a sniper who is targeting the Los Angeles Fire Department by setting fires around the city to lure in unsuspecting engine companies. Also, the rivalry between Chris, Street and Tan ratchets up when Tan finds out there's an internal betting pool on which of them will win the SWAT leadership competition. Instead of being preachy about what we've all faced over the last nine months (WOW), we were treated to nuanced storytelling that hit all of the hot-button topics.

Dec 10, 2020I 100% agree with the comment above. I watch fictional TV for an outlet and this show is quite fictional. Tired of the COVID and black lives matter. Are they also going to show all of the riots and looting businesses and ruining people's lives? How about the many people out of work due to the COVID hysteria, the restaurant owners and workers, oilfield workers, small businesses? Or do we just highlight the left's needs? No more SWAT for me. Was my #2 show to watch.

Dec 08, 2020This was my favorite show when it first came on, but something went wrong somewhere. Will there ever be a time when we can continue to watch these shows without all the political BS? Or is that a rhetorical question? Even though I am black I think it's stupid to do a show about the KKK when Two other groups are the ones causing problems right now. I'm not defending the KKK obviously by any means but they haven't been in the news rioting, attacking innocent people, burning down black businesses recently but yet they're going to do an episode portraying the KKK as the bad guys? I watch TV to get away from all of this crap but the Hollywood Wokes don't get it. I'm done with this show and it goes off my recorder. Also not to mention the drama and how silly that is.
