Samurai Jack really did improve season-to-season, and the third one continues this trend with even more varied genre-hopping, more impressive animation, and even more well thought-out storylines. As always, Samurai Jack is consistently fun, and scenarios this year involve a heist, as well as a Miyazaki-inspired adventure that finds Jack teaming up with a Totoro-esque creature. This year also featured the best animation yet for the series, particularly notable in an episode that's essentially a ghost story, and features Jack battling a demon in a nether world which nods to the minimalist ink designs of classic Japanese art! Also, the series finally gives an origin story for Aku this year, with a two-parter that's among the most dramatic iterations in the show prior to the fifth season. Samurai Jack would only grow stronger, but perhaps this was the season that had it shed its skin as a "kids show".
