I know the season of trash-talking "Saturday Night Live" has begun, but I don't care. I'm glad the NBC show is back, and I will watch it regularly, even though I know it will disappoint me more than it will please me.

"Saturday Night Live" no longer stands as our appointed dispenser of satirical truths. It probably never did. Butsomewhere along the line, it turned into a weekly embalming. We no longer watch it with hope but from sheer inertia.

Matt Damon, a previous "SNL" host, masterfully took on the Kavanaugh role - sniffing compulsively, turning pages with an aggressive snap and slamming water so hard he was dribbling on his lap.

Still, whatever this show's faults, it was just good to have "Saturday Night Live" back to find humor in these divisive times.
