Tv Season Info

A series that mixes black comedy with a heavy slice of slasher flick begins on a college campus experiencing a rash of murders being committed by a killer clad in satanic garb. A premiere target for the maniac is the Kappa House sorority, which is run by Chanel (Emma Roberts), a snobby elitist who chafes at the dean's order to open up admission to a not-so-select nor special demographic of pledges. Along the way, a mysterious woman with a Kappa past is visited, the search for the killer, now called the Red Devil is mounted, and Dean Munsch (Jamie Leigh Curtis), never a proponent of the vixens of Kappa House, struggles to keep the university open. Later, the Kappas try using a Ouija board to find out who the Red Devil killer is, which actually triggers beyond-the-grave contact with a late member of the sorority who has a dire warning for her sisters. Eventually, startling confessions lead to the unmasking of the Red Devil and the identity of the killer.

As in Glee or American Horror Story, Murphy delights in misdirection and abrupt shifts of tone, both of which he does well. The dialogue is snappy and no pretension escapes un-nailed.

But Fox's Scream Queens is a nasty, trashy hybrid of Glee and American Horror Story.

Murphy gives good pilot, and this one's no exception.

It seems unlikely that Scream Queens will pull of the same trick as Scream the movie: being funny and suspenseful at the same time. Most viewers will settle for either, but the show will probably fall short at both.

It's an odd mash-up that leaves little room for real connection to the characters, having faith instead in laughs and blood. Then again, laughs and blood have a good track record.

Something starts clicking and the show finds the scary funny shocking mix it's looking for and the template is there for what should be one of fall's more entertaining shows.

Maybe I'm a curmudgeonly old woman who can't stand the flippant way these three male writers treat female identity politics.

It's too much of a cartoon - and not even a good one.

We're already coming back for season two, even if we have no idea where these characters could possibly go from here. It'll probably be fun to find out, though.

Ryan Murphy's Scream Queens is exactly what you'd expect a series from Ryan Murphy called Scream Queens to be. It's a blend of everything that's campy and bright about Glee and dark and grimy about American Horror Story.

this show is amazing! it keeps you on the edge of your seat, and the twists and turns make it very entertaining and binge-worthy. i love horror movies and this lived up to my expectation. the characters all have two sides, so its hard to figure out who the killer is. its not too scary (in my opinion), but just scary enough where you'll shiver and look behind you. definitely recommend!

With a cast full of fresh faces, Ryan Murphy as executive producer but with a script quite loose and sometimes even disconcerting, Scream Queens could have been an instant classic of the Slasher on television, but unfortunately promised things that certainly made the series remain in proposals thrown into the air. One of the ones that caught my attention the moment I saw the trailer and seeing the first episode was the type of slasher series that I proposed it would be, it could feel a bit dark but without going directly as its competition at that time " Scream: The Tv Series "(MTV) and with a certain hint of black humor, but unfortunately Ryan Murphy fails to valancear both things so at the time of viewing the series you can feel it is more a" Spin-off "Glee (Ryan Murphy drama series) with a tiny drop of American Horror Story (Ryan Murphy's anthology series). Scream Queens. Another thing that also caught the attention of the people who saw the first chapter of the series and the trailer was the participation of the youth pop diva of the moment, Ariana Grande, who would appear in almost all the promotional photos of the series and we felt that we would see this girl in a role as one of the "Final Girls", but her character turned out to be more than mere promotion for the series, since with a very little screen time, few dialogues and interaction with the other characters , the character of Ari was murdered in a stupid and almost impossible way to believe, almost as stupid as the famous death of Helen in the slasher classic of the nineties "I Know What You Did Last Summer", but this time (And trying to be more original and modern), the character of Ariana dedicates to publish her moments in the social network called Twitter, to be finally murdered and revived to finish sending her publication. Another thing that I do not accept, was the certain censorship and bad effects of the series at the time of the deaths, which could be seen as the severed heads were mannequins, which generates a much more boring atmosphere. But not everything is lies and promises half left; Emma Roberts, Billie Lourd and Abigail Breslin do a FANTASTIC job like the bitchy blonde bitches that tried to pretend, which is wonderful and the rest of the cast do a very good job but not perfect. In definition and to finish: Scream Queens could have been much better than it was, they could have increased the age of the series for adults but could have given more real deaths and better effects. - A.S
