Shroud of Christ?

Episode Info

Is the Shroud of Turin really Jesus' burial cloth or is it a medieval fake? Carbon dating points to the latter, but some scientists interviewed here aren't so sure. They say that the problem with the carbon dating (done in 1988) is that the sample had been handled so much that it was contaminated. The shroud's image has been determined not to be a painting, and while one expert says it could be a 13th-century camera-obscura "photo," another points to stitching that she says had to have come from the 1st century. Yet another claims that the image was made during Jesus' Resurrection. But no one disputes that whoever was wrapped in that cloth suffered monstrously.
