News & Interviews for Servant: Season 1
It's a good premise, surrounded by good ideas, and yet there's no saving something that was never alive to begin with.
It's eerie and unsettling in ways that television often tries to be but rarely accomplishes.
The whole series does really well to portray a family's heartbreak while keeping you on your toes.
Patience is something that is needed by an audience that watches Servant, but if they hang in there they will be rewarded by great performances and a suspenseful and unexpectedly funny script that will leave the audience wanting more.
It eventually turns into an exercise in narrative withholding that is more head-scratching than hair-raising.
SERVANT, like any well thought out mystery, has laid out a trail of breadcrumbs for you to follow.
AppleTV+'s best-kept secret is a disturbing study in grief, guilt, and denial.
A triumph for Shyamalan and Apple+. Servant goes far in its premise while guaranteeing the effectivity of the format for well shot short episodes. [Full review in Spanish].
Audience Reviews for Servant: Season 1
14h agoUGH, Another m night shyamalan flop. Just like his movies you can tell there is never going tobe an ending to this series. The first couple episodes were good and halfway through season one you could tell it was going nowhere. The servant is exactly where it belongs on Apple TV were the worst TV shows air. How is Apple TV even a channel who subscribes to the stuff if I hadn't received a free subscription from Apple no way would I pay for it, the shows are terrible
3d agoVery mediocre and less than half-baked. I got tired trying to stay glued to the series as it just kept dragging on and on with too many plots and characters bring brought into the show who lacked depth! Mr Shyamalan you need to STOP making supernatural movies/shows. You can never get it right and instead you just make the viewing boring by teasing promising plots only to not go through with them till the end The Visit was so half-baked, and Servant is worse than that.
Jan 17, 2021This an ok-ish thriller show, nothing horrific except for people born after 2000. Season 2 just started and if you wonder what happened in the serie until now, not that much actually. Pretty slow paced show, whiny role of Lauren Ambrose is the most annoying character... Seriously how many shows we have to watch with some super emotives people nowadays?! Also dunno why there are so many shots about slow cooking in the dark actually, prolly must be a vegan thing ("oh my god he just slowly cut a piece of meat, can't watch it. it's soooo hard" or something)
Jan 15, 2021I liked it. Its different. The story is interesting. Every episode is wanting you to know what happens next. Its a great show to watch. I think this show would get a 5 star but theres something that is missing. Its a show that didnt leave me "wow that a great show".
Jan 08, 2021Simply brilliant. A true thrilling story. Highly recommendable!
Dec 30, 2020Dark, moody, and mind-boggling. Every time we thought we had figured it out, we sadly hadn't. Happy to hear there will be a season 2!
Dec 29, 2020Great tv series. Format of 30ish minutes is very convenient. Plot is interesting and unique. Alina
Dec 08, 2020A classic horror plot, inviting strangers into your house and see what happens next. This is a neighbor friendly production, with filming takes place mostly inside the house. This show brings horror cinematography into the next level, just watch the BTS video to witness its magic. Despite only four main actors, they all are brilliant | Follow us at @uncle.review
Sep 27, 2020I have to admit I found it okay for first two episodes, but then I was ironing and I thought I'd hang in there. It did get better - but guys what was that about the floor in the basement having a mini earth quake? Maybe I lost the plot! It got better again and I was beginning to really enjoy it. But, the ending how shit was that? Ooops sorry.
Sep 17, 2020The show is an absolute delight to watch. It keeps you curious.
