Shameless
Shameless enters its ninth season on a tight budget of fresh stories left to tell, but still finds some rich new notes of characterization -- all while gracefully bidding adieu to Emmy Rossum.

Nov 26, 2021Nine seasons in and I see where people might say the show is running tired, but nonetheless it's still as captivating to me as any other season. Bittersweet to see Emmy Rossum's (Fiona Gallagher's) exit in the show, seeing how it became very centered around her. Her stories ending (if that's what you can call it) seemed sort of rushed and happened all too fast, but I still feel it was a good end to Fiona's crazed life in the South Side. Will have to disagree with others saying its become too political, though. This season has felt no more "political" than others. This show simply exemplifies real life experiences and presents viewers with REAL LIFE.

May 10, 2021at this point i dont remember the older seasons below the surface level, but felt that this was a tad bit toned down and its not a bad thing. finally some wholesome ending.

Apr 27, 2021Dropping this show after 3 episodes from this season. It has been gradually getting too political for entertainment but now it's just shoving woke agendas in the faces of the audience .
-
Jan 25, 2021It isn't one of the best Shameless seasons, but Fiona's character development is worth to watch due to the amazing Emmy Rossum performances. The story is full of drama and has some twists. It never fails to entertain.

Oct 30, 2020I used to love this show until its turned super left wing political in season 9.

Sep 22, 2020Make no mistake the second half of Shameless proved this is Jeremy Allen White's show now and while he's a fantastic in small doses, his arch can not carry a show. The writing has become lazy and frankly this should be it for a show that is out of steam. William H. Macy is just cashing a check and getting to be nuanced with a character that has been played out. Emma Rossum grew on me over the years and proved she could carry the ball when given. While I think White will have a better career long term, Rossum was this show and the writing has no clue where or how to continue and it was proven time and time again. There are some heartfelt moments and it's sad to see something you enjoy come to an end. Let's hope this show doesn't come back.

Aug 20, 2020Done! I am soooo done with Shameless. I could BARELY get through Season 9's politics and the same story line told over and over. What I could get through of Season 10 was NOTHING but ridiculous political nonsense. We get enough of mind numbing back and forth political BS every time we look at a screen. Some of us just want to binge on a dysfunctional family – to laugh, cry, and get angry – is that too much to as for? I'm done. Hopefully, they will not renew this show for another season. What a waste – this used to be my favorite show.

Jun 12, 2020This show got so repetitive I quit.
-
May 10, 2020Clearly repetitive, boring at its worst. But the beautiful details about the characters are always the great work of amazing screenwriters. I disagree that Shameless put too much politics in this season: Shameless IS the most political series I've ever seen since episode 1. Making a show about the struggle of poor people is political and it should be, it screams a truth to the world that is hard to digest. In the end, Shameless 9 is still Shameless.. only tired and repetitive, but the goodbye to Fiona Gallagher - after some painful episodes - works. It's still able to show the perspective of the writers and how they feel about these human beings they're depicting: they care about them, and in spite of anything distusting or wrong that the characters might have done, the screenplay watches them with a maternal look, silently observing the beauty of human beings.

Mar 11, 2020I really appreciate this show and how amazing the outcome of it is. Anytime I get a chance to promote I will. Season 8 was a great start on Fionas behalf and a real character builder. Then season 9 came along and showed her downfall and her elegance hitting rock bottom. The directors and team did an amazing job at her character. The should continue to do what they are doing.👍
