The show spends all the time showing, sometimes sympathizing with, rich people's wrong doings, the victim's family is hardly there. The writing’s sharp, the acting’s solid—especially Talitha’s character, who’s just brilliant—and the format is pretty original. The story plays well with your sympathies---except for one overly obnoxious police officer and Talitha's mother, the characters are all fairly sympathetic. The trial setup is pretty fascinating too. I’d never seen this kind of “double defense” before, where each side tries to blame the other (apparently it’s a real thing). Talitha’s character is probably the stand-out, though. If I had one tiny criticism, it’s that her redemption arc feels a bit too neat—she goes from obnoxious to effortlessly charming a little too quickly by the end. But otherwise, very cool, looking forward to starting the new series. The acting was terrible, so bad in fact from most of the actors that I'm guessing it must have been the director demanding "more! Give it more! They can't hear you at the back!" Almost every line was overacted. It was called Showtrial and supposedly the media was going to judge them. Well that was mentioned for about 20 seconds in one of the episodes and had no bearing on the trial. Tabitha's character was so over the top unlikeable that she wasn't believable at all. Her mum performed s*x acts on her at parties at their home in front of lots of men when she was 14! It's not shocking if it's totally unplausable! It was watchable for a while but half way through I just wanted to finish it to know what happened and like I said, you don't even find out. Will be giving season 2 a miss!
