Critic Consensus: Mock-reality series Siberia disappoints with a shaky premise, bad acting, and uninteresting characters.

Tv Season Info

Sixteen reality-TV show contestants find themselves literally fighting to survive when strange things start happening while filming in the remote Siberian territory of Tunguska. Some contestants may not make it to the end of the game, but those who remain deal with deception and drama, including accusations of theft, the discovery of a bloody scene in the woods and arguments over food rationing.

The premiere episode of Siberia doesn't make viewers care who lives or dies, and it doesn't suggest the show has an intriguing mystery up its sleeve.

The dirty little secret of Siberia is that it owes less to reality shows than low-budget horror movies.

This hybrid of Survivor and LOST has some truly rough edges but also contains an addictively strange premise that could separate it from a lot of the bland network offerings this season.

Written and directed by newcomer Matthew Arnold, "Siberia" holds the promise of a weekly dose of spooky summer entertainment.

Poorly acted, drearily written, Siberia is just the thing for those who've tuned into a new reality show and, while watching the same old beats play out, muttered to the screen, "I could have written this." Now someone has. But why?

If it sounds like a terrible idea, don't panic: Siberia is actually a scripted horror show - sort of Survivor by way of The Blair Witch Project. It may still be terrible, but at least it will be terrible in an unexpected way.

The show isn't always certain of its own premise, which could become more problematic as it tries to juggle more complex elements down the road.

If Siberia were a reality series, I would never commend it for being so cliched, but as fiction its unerring mimicry impressed me- maybe I'm a sucker, but flawless imitation strikes me as much more difficult than mindless being.

While blood 'n' guts horror is all too prevalent on television these days, there aren't too many shows that employ straight-up, old-fashioned scare tactics. Siberia excels at this.

It's a new way to make TV - and I'm not sure it'll work. But then again, stranger things have happened.

Audience Reviews for Siberia: Season 1

The first season of this show, starts off a tad slow, introducing some interesting twists, it becomes more intense and more intriguing as the season progresses, the performances getting better, the twists getting more interesting, and the finale leaving the door open for hopefully a second season to answer questions.

It keeps you hanging till the very last episode. Blair Witch Project meets Lost. This TV series is begging for a second season.
