Single Drunk Female's clear-eyed chronicle of the challenges of sobriety is a joy, thanks in part to some spiky satire and Sofia Black-D'elia's spirited star turn.

John Doyle Globe and Mail 04/12/2022
This is a highly unusual drama-comedy with a strange sensibility, superbly written and performed. It’s startling, daring and at times bewitching. That’s a very high achievement for what is, in truth, a story about a woman on a sobriety journey. Go to Full Review

It’s a credit to “Single Drunk Female” that the show manages to be driven by something other than despair while not ignoring the challenges that its main character faces. Go to Full Review
Doreen St. Felix The New Yorker 04/06/2022
Brings critical thought, breezily shaped, to the phenomenon of alcoholism among young women, without hardening into preachiness. Go to Full Review

Clearly autobiographical but also both amusing and touching, Single Drunk Female tells the story of Samantha Fink (Sofia Black-D’Elia), a 20-something journalist who is smart and funny and addicted to alcohol. We meet her on her rock-bottom day. Go to Full Review

Mary G @marygs13 05/08/2023 Highly watchable with interesting characters. See more Erin C @RT48795473 04/17/2023 Great show - didn't know what to expect. It's my new fav show! So good! See more Tanya @RT79709599 04/10/2023 This show was watchable but very Hollywood, predictable, and somewhat trite. There should have been more Boston accents too! I did love that Sheedy was cast and she looks like a normal human being which is very UN-hollywood so thank you. I did feel the struggles tho... See more Eri V @RT46769606 12/28/2022 Could'nt even stand 2 episodes of this. How is this a comedy? Nothing is funny in this show, it's an AA lecture. A historical show about prohibition would be more entertaining than this caricature. Totally overrated. See more Kevin H @RT48757009 05/14/2022 Is this what TV has come to -- teaching people that being an alcoholic is bad? I felt like I was being lectured to for 30 minutes, and I don't even drink. I thought it would be a comedy, but the jokes are lame when they appear between lectures. See more 04/21/2022 Great acting. The lead actress is incredible. Ally does something that older well-known actors rarely do...she doesn't overact and try to show up the younger actors. She plays the mother perfectly. Good story and the writers supply great dialogue. The writers are just as responsible for how good this series is as the actors. See more Read all reviews
