Sarah Bennett's parents were murdered by a killer known as "The Executioner" 30 years ago. Now, she returns to the quiet community of Waterbury, where the killings occurred, to start over with her husband Dylan, but upon arriving they discover that things haven't changed much. Sarah quickly finds herself at the center of a series of murders that revolve around the seven deadly sins, which appear to be the work of "The Executioner." But the original killer who went by that name, Tom Winston, is in prison so it can't be him. That means somebody else is behind the mask this time around, and the perp's true identity must be discovered to stop this latest string of murders. As long-buried secrets begin to surface, everybody around Sarah is a suspect -- or a victim.

The change in time period allows the show to change things up, though its penchant for gore and campy acting remains delightfully intact. The specific way the show uses flashbacks, however, renders the plot predictable and could do with shaking up Go to Full Review

Gianni O @Gianni97 Jun 29 Alittle campy but enjoyable, some pretty good kills too, overall a decent addition. See more Michael W 10/05/2023 Strong season, camp scare-fest with good twists and script See more London H @Artworks 09/29/2023 The characters, story, and kills are awesome! I love how it takes place in the past giving it a old time feel, also the main character the Detective is amazing with his acting and how the character was put together. The reveal of the murder was good only downfall of the tv show was the ending / last kill. See more Edwin O 05/16/2023 While it doesn't break new ground, Slasher: Ripper is a great addition to the series. See more Amanda M 05/12/2023 Taking inspiration from one of the most known serial killers, Jack The Ripper, this season takes us to the 19th century Toronto where a masked killer called The Widow is killing the rich members of society. While at first they can look as random victims soon we're going to realize that they have something linking them together. With a average running time of 45 minutes the eight episodes will lead the viewers throughout the alleys between the past and the present. The fast paced narrative turns into a engaging and interesting story. Each episode leaves you wanting more with a brutal and merciless killer adding at least one victim per episode to the list. Finding out who is The Widow is a difficult task, the suspects list will change more than once making the reveal in the last episode even more shocking. With strong motives and justifications, The Widow turns into the type of villain that you root for. While the acting is not outstanding, it did exceeded my expectations and made the watching experience enjoyable. The story had a proper closure leaving a feeling of satisfaction that proves that a short story can have consistency, good writing, and doesn't need to kill characters in unjustified way to be able to finish the story without explanations. Yes, I'm talking about American Horror Story who served as inspiration for the creation of this series. Enjoy this eight episodes slasher story now available in Shudder.
