What to Know

Critics Consensus

Slow Horses loosens the reins in a more lighthearted season that doesn't quite measure up to the series' high bar, but it still excels as one of the most compulsively watchable offerings on television.

...[This season] doesn’t miss a beat, combining twisty momentum and sardonic humour as a terror crisis builds during a London mayoral election. That’s a terrific achievement, but also a finale of sorts. Go to Full Review

It is glorious fun, a taut, twisty and enjoyable thriller laced with so many funny moments. Go to Full Review

It is undeniably watchable. But this season points a lot of fingers without actually making any clear decisions. Go to Full Review
Cat Woods Flicks (AU, NZ, UK) Jan 8, 2026
Smith has really maintained momentum and some very clever sight gags, vicious one-liners, and poignant revelations over five seasons, which is a tall order for any writer and their cast. Go to Full Review

The latest season comes through as more of a comfort offering. It meets the expectations it has set up as a compact prestige dramedy, but does little more to surpass them. Go to Full Review

Oldman remains a guiding light, shaping the tone and spirit of the series, commanding with an authority that never takes itself too seriously, which is quite welcome. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

Sharang L @Scribe187 3 days ago Weakest season. But such is the quality that even at it's worst, this show is a few notches above the rest of the streaming fare. See more Mike S @RT00397140 3 days ago Best show on TV. That is all. See more Aggie N @Aggie 4 days ago Love this show. See more SITAPATI RAO K @KSRao Oct 23, 2026 It is a brilliantly well made series. The question that rankles us all and some point will know is the reason Jackson Lamb is relegated to Slough House. He is brilliant, extremely intelligent, well connected yet .... If one looks at the character one tends to believe he is as obnoxious as he portrays, which obviously he is not. See more Sue B @RT57575603 Oct 23, 2026 Will Smith’s absence is noticeable from ep1. Gone are the sharp lines like "It's like explaining Norway to a dog." Smith made fart jokes smart; without him, they’re just cringey. The drop in writing quality is everywhere: • Lamb is turned into a befuddled, reactive old man until he magically ties up loose ends easily in episode 6. • The women are sidelined in a safe house knitting or babysitting. They turned Taverner into a damsel in distress. • Catherine’s sobriety wavers. Why? And Coe makes bizarre, out-of-character errors. • Harkness and Sid Baker felt completely irrelevant instead of raising stakes. • Lamb fails to toast ALL his lost joes including Flyte who died defending them. • River misses a crucial "Code September" blunder to prove he still needs Lamb. I get Smith was burned out. But skipping a year or two was better than an assembly-line release doing these characters a serious disservice. I'm bitter dammit. See more steve W @swillmo Oct 22, 2026 awesome James Bond start to each episode, top top drawer acting, superb plot and totally believable unbelievable characters, entirely loveable unloveable characters...but let down by a few too many 'doesn't quite add up', 'not quite explained' loose ends and plot points. For example....[Spoiler Alert] what happened to person A, would they just leave her?! wouldn't you check that person B was dead?! would you really turnaround in that situation, and would person C really be able to disappear?! would top agent D not hear person E?! Feels like there's stuff dropped on the cutting room floor, which is a shame - I want every morsel of this show. See more Read all reviews
