The film makes for a fitting tribute to Logan himself and those like him - people who are brave enough to lead the charge and who get shot down for trying.

John Boyega, known for the most recent Star Wars trilogy, gives a genuinely star-making performance here...

There are many obvious reasons why Red, White and Blue feels timely, but perhaps the greatest one is that it depicts the tricky dynamics Leroy experiences among his superiors.

At a mere 80 minutes, the script by McQueen and Newland feels amazingly full...

While a vehicle for strong performances, Red, White and Blue is largely formulaic.

What Steve McQueen has done here is demonstrate a mastery of the medium, bending it to his will and offering up another savage slice of social commentary without compromising on any level.

A challenging film that doesn't offer any solutions or narrative resolution, this is must-see viewing. Boyega shines in a nuanced role, and inhabits a brilliantly realised past that feels not so different from our present

A script stripped down to types and situations as timeworn as The Cop Drama itself. But Boyega puts on the sort of acting clinic for McQueen that nothing else he's done allowed him to do.

Red, White and Blue refuses to try and sandpaper the rough edges of these complex issues to make them more stereotypically cinematic, and has John Boyega in a career-best performance.
October 15, 2020
Boyega's stirring performance reaches extremely high levels of drama and indignation, the kind few of his other roles offered.

Steve McQueen has achieved a monumental feat with this anthology, and I can't wait to see the final two films.

Boyega is excellent and sheds any Star Wars residual concerns. The three films together celebrate a culture and represent a long heroic struggle-a community coming together to fight systemic racism-a battle that continues to this day.

A challenging film that asks difficult questions of its audience. The best thing about this entry to the Small Axe series is undoubtedly that it showcases John Boyega's brilliance.

With everything happening in the US right now, the continuing fight for racial equality for BIPOC alongside a fight for the very democracy our country was founded on, Small Axe feels like just what we need right now.

Very good, but I did wish for a stronger resolution to close the series.

So much of Red, White and Blue succeeds thanks to Boyega's performance.

Red, White, and Blue is a well-made effort from Steve McQueen that cements Small Axe's status as one of the best auteur-driven anthologies of our time.

Red, White and Blue is an enjoyable melodrama recuperating a certain person from a certain time whose personal sacrifices assisted in allowing for at least the modicum of progress towards equality, empathy and understanding.
