Fueled by enigmatic performances, especially by Diggs and Connelly, Snowpiercer eventually proves to be worthy of your time, but as more and more quality TV shows are announced and streamed, Snowpiercer is under the threat of getting lost.

Snowpiercer delivered a solid first installment, and I can't wait to see where this season will takes us.

Snowpiercer, for all its delays and production issues, is arriving at exactly the right time for its narrative to really hit home for anyone who might be sitting at home and watching it.

The most enthralling part of this show so far is absolutely the world building. The more we learn about the train, its factions, its underbelly, the more immersive it becomes.

What works here is the way "Snowpiercer" the series expands on the science-fiction fueled dystopia of the film

At its heart, it feels like a police procedural or old school, episodic sci-fi a la Battlestar Galactica or Falling Skies... Still, this definitely has plenty of positives.

The show is as imperfect as the humanity that it depicts

TNT's Snowpiercer does not live up to the expectation of the film it is based off of, but it truly attempts to be something radically different. It manages to evolve a sometimes stale murder mystery plot into a enthralling revolutionary story.

Exposition barrels along faster than the train itself ("Just making a quick stop at Gun on the Mantelpiece Station!"). In short, it's perfect. Sit back, relax and take in the trash.

I think it's a fabulous premise, realised here with less anger than in the film, but equal wit and imagination and the same clarity of setting.

Thankfully, the strength of the acting keeps this from becoming a frozen fondue.

I'm intrigued enough to stick with it. Diggs and Connelly are perfectly cast as two sides of the same coin - people you can't help but trust, even when you know they've got a lot hidden up their sleeves.

"Snowpiercer" might work best as a late night insomniac watch. It is not great television but has a great actor in [Jennifer] Connelly and you can stop paying attention to the plot and ponder the future it envisions.

Snowpiercer's middling pilot is saved by its leads.

Snowpiercer, as a series, is [a] mostly effective reworking of Jacques Lob's Le Transperceneige graphic novel that's a sort of pared-down, semi-simplified version of the premise.

It's not Bong Joon Ho's Snowpiercer, not by a long shot. But as TNT's Snowpiercer, the show will carry on just fine.

It's slightly campy, definitely too on the nose, but still satisfying?

All told, the Snowpiercer premiere has some really strong and promising elements and other middling ones. Hopefully they'll lean into their strengths to make for a compelling series.

Jennifer Connelly is iconic in her role as Melanie Cavill, the Head of Hospitality.
