Jax (Charlie Hunnam) and Clay (Ron Perlman) vie for leadership of SAMCRO while outside threats to the gang continue to mount in the second series of the hit primetime drama. As the season gets underway, we find the death of Opie Winston's wife yielding unexpected consequences as Vice President Jax Teller (Charlie Hunnam) vows to take the club in a moer legitimate direction, a decision that doesn't sit well with President Clay Morrow (Ron Perlman). Meanwhile, as the racist League of American Nationalists motorcycle club fronted by Ethan Zobelle (Adam Arkin) launches a brutal campaign against a divided SAMCRO, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms enters the picture.

Critic Reviews for Sons of Anarchy Season 2

All Critics (14) | Top Critics (10)

When Sons of Anarchy debuted, I wasn't sure I wanted to see it last. But now that Sutter and company have finished the long and difficult task of fixing what wasn't working, I want to know everything it has to offer.

We're drawn into their lives, and as it starts its second season, "Sons of Anarchy" can't be left out of any conversation about the golden age of cable drama.

Albification is great because while the show is mostly known for its action and motorcycle chases, there's also a strong emotional element to it and this episode provides that for the entire season.

That one look he gave while on the phone with Jax is the perfect image to hold on to until the next season: though the Sons may have lost in the season finale, that bond has returned and it won't be long before they're back and stronger than ever.

Feb 19, 2019 | Full Review…

It was a brutal reintroduction to Sons of Anarchy and a reminder that no matter how bad SAMCRO may be, a more evil and disgusting force is out there willing to do anything in order to see them fall.

Maybe Sons is the perfect male soap opera. And that ain't so bad.

Sep 3, 2009 | Rating: 8.4/10 | Full Review…

The season opener, Albification, rests comfortably in my mental top five list of standout TV episodes for 2010.

[A] fitting finale both provides an important conclusion to the season (one of the series' best) and leaves sufficient loose ends to begin the next one.

Jan 14, 2019 | Full Review…

It quickly becomes clear that there are tensions here that everyone is doing their level best to play around.

The whole series seems like a lurid exhaustfume fantasy, but it's a fast-paced, well-acted, profanely funny fantasy.

Audience Reviews for Sons of Anarchy: Season 2

Not only does the first episode start with a huge bang, but things get really really complicated and chaotic right until the end. Things get morally interesting as these assholes, despite thinking they're doing some good to the community, keep screwing things over and over, not only to the ones around them but their close-knitted group as well.
