Ron H @RT67494203 11/22/2022 The favourite TV show of my childhood. If you take into account, when the show was produced, it couldn't get any better than that. I was a Star Trek child, but this show was so much better produced and more thought provoking. Not everything is explained, which is a thing I really enjoy. Come to your own conclusions... You can clearly see the influences from Kubrick's 2001. Great show, stylish and mostly a hoot to watch. See more 12/07/2021 Space: 1999 was my favorite sci-fi show during my childhood. I even prefered it over Star Trek. The first season is still very much watchable today: Great practical effects, thought-provoking plots and a great cast. The sets and costumes are marvellous, if you like the 70's space age designs, that is. If you've never seen it: give it a go, but always keep in mind: This was produced 50 years ago! Season 2 however is a totally different kettle of fish: It mostly stinks! The sets were minimized, the costumes degraded, most of the cast dropped, goofiness and monsters added, and the greatness of the plots disappeared. The Exiles is the one truly watchable episode from the second season. The rest is more colourful, more action-packed, more gung-ho, but ultimately lacking grandeur and intelligence. While Season 1 seems to have been written for adults, Season 2 was clearly degraded to a kids' show. See more Read all reviews
