What to Know

Critics Consensus

Squid Game's unflinching brutality is not for the faint of heart, but sharp social commentary and a surprisingly tender core will keep viewers glued to the screen - even if it's while watching between their fingers.

R. F. F @RT36265540 4d Perfect capitalist dystopian gut-wrenching drama that shows how meaningless "voluntary participation" is in a system designed to produce abject desperation and debt slavery. A great introduction to class war for those who don't yet have the stomach for it. See more Chris P @Xiao_Proxies Apr 14 Squid Game is an innovative and powerful series that redefines what survival dramas can be. Its first season is a near-perfect blend of psychological tension, social commentary, and visual storytelling. The premise is simple, yet its execution is brutal, emotional, and unforgettable. Season 2 expands the universe while maintaining a strong narrative flow. It's admittedly less shocking than the debut, but that's to be expected now that the concept is familiar. Still, it adds interesting layers to the lore and gives more depth to certain characters, keeping the story engaging and suspenseful. Season 3 may not land every moment with the same emotional weight as its predecessors, and the finale could feel less satisfying for some. However, it's far from a misstep. In the end, Squid Game remains a standout in modern TV, even if later seasons show minor inconsistencies. The boldness of its vision and the strength of its execution more than make up for it.
