What to Know

Critics Consensus

Carried along by Owen Wilson's laconic charm, Stick is a sports comedy that putts predictably but accomplishes its aim of gentle entertainment commendably under par.

Stick takes some big swings, and enough of them connect to make something decent. The show just misses too many tap-ins to be truly great. Go to Full Review

This golfing comedy is just about on par — but it could have taken a bigger swing and move beyond the usual sporting stereotypes. Still, Owen Wilson shines. Go to Full Review

Like Ted Lasso, this is a story that is unafraid to take its flawed characters on an emotionally charged comedic flight over fairway and rough, through the woods and into bunkers, before leaving them all a putt at happiness. Go to Full Review

Both Marc Maron and Owen Wilson are wearing their characters as loosely as an actor can, to the point where they might as well have had their scripts in their hands in all their scenes. Neither of them was apparently even willing to cut their hair. Go to Full Review

It lets itself down with too many leaden generation-gap jokes, but benefits hugely from Wilson’s easy Shaggy from Scooby-Doo charm (Wilson is a pro at lifting comedy out of schmaltzy quagmires). Go to Full Review

With its mix of humor, heartache, and redemption, Stick uses the lightness of comedy to explore the weight of life, ending on a note equal parts sweet and glorious. Go to Full Review

Syn I. @synirios 3d It’s an okay series overall. What really took me out of it was the casting of Santi Wheeler’s love interest. The age difference felt noticeably off on screen, and their chemistry didn’t quite sell the relationship for me. Instead of adding to the story, it came across as awkward and distracting. See more Tomasz B @T0mmyB Jun 5 Owen Wilson plays himself :) Feel Good Series! Mama Elena is the coolest! See more Ben C. @BenCline Apr 27 I really liked this show. Apple TV has the format down for an easy to watch series. Not too much drama, enjoyable characters, and a routine that feels comfortable while you’re watching. Finale felt a little predictable See more Matt P. @MMPPens Apr 20 Great series with heart. See more Bobby D. @Perr1one Apr 17 Well written and well acted. Owen Wilson's best in a while. See more Fred N @fneylan Feb 16 The plot is nothing too surprising, but an engaging group of actors who are well-cast. Obviously aimed at a younger demo than a typical golf movie, the kid looks like Timothee Chalamet and he and his girlfriend actually act like teenagers. A lot of fun moments and Marc Maron, Judy Greer, and Timothy Olyphant add a lot. Cameos by real golfers and announcers help make the golf scenes seem realistic. See more Read all reviews
