Those beings, like us, have to go through life prepared to face many huge unknowns. Strange Planet is a pleasant enough way to consider many of them. Go to Full Review

Strange Planet is smart, witty and gentle. It might not be laugh-out-loud funny, but it’s likely to raise a smile from both fans of the comic and new audiences. Go to Full Review
John Anderson Wall Street Journal 08/10/2023
Strange Planet is an exceedingly low-key, gently amusing offering that’s a far cry from the screamingly conventional anime of the popular One Piece or some of the needlessly edgy entries on Adult Swim. Go to Full Review
Karl Puschmann New Zealand Herald 02/12/2025
It’s warm, fuzzy and inoffensive. It pokes fun holding a padded stick. It’s never less than gently humorous and reassuringly amusing. It could just do with a little more bite. Go to Full Review

Very simple-looking drawings that bely the complexity and existential undertow of its writing... Go to Full Review

After a few episodes, a few regular characters start to show up in related storylines, but mostly Strange Planet is episodic, preferring to illuminate familiar TV tropes with ironic language instead of breaking ground story-wise. Go to Full Review

Ezra R @ejrrrr Sep 17 Solid show. First two episodes are great but then it kinda spirals into too many story lines instead of sticking with just a few See more Spence R @RT43528739 12/26/2023 It's goofy, and funny enough. Hope to see season 2! See more magrathean @RT60310517 10/31/2023 wholesome, funny, unique, plot might be a little bit slow / unsubstantial See more CK Movie Reviews @RT24117717 10/14/2023 While I wanted to like this show, because I enjoyed the web comic Nathan Pyle created, I just couldn't get into it. The humor works well in 4 panels, but over the course of an entire episode it becomes t i r e s o m e See more Max I @RT01143394 10/13/2023 Cute and amusing, but not enough engine, Strange Planet needs to work on finding a rhythm to not run out of steam so quickly. See more Lukas S @RT33300630 09/15/2023 I loved Nathan's comics for years. Absolute genius. When he said this series was coming I warned him that it was a bad idea. I felt that adapting to the screen this work, whose humor is based mostly on short sentences, would result in a loss of its core qualities. I also suspected that the producers will do what they do best: fuck-up the source material by stretching too far the limits of how much it can be twisted. And it happened. This is NOT Strange Planet. No more than the 5% of the dialogues is somehow like the comics. The rest is completely normal dialogues. The whole charm of SP is completely lost. There is no purpose, no sense, no beauty in watching some blue creatures acting like humans, talking like humans, just for them to say footorb instead of football and mild poison instead of alcohol. The show had to be organized in a drastically different way which would allow for a MUCH shorter kind of communication. A completely different way of talking than ours, with very short sentences. This show as it is is a complete waste of our time and of Nathan's talent. Period. See more Read all reviews
