What to Know

Critics Consensus

Stranger Things' slow-building sophomore season balances moments of humor and a nostalgic sweetness against a growing horror that's all the more effective thanks to the show's full-bodied characters and evocative tone.

The second season steps up the pace gently, without losing its firm grip on the very specifically dated narrative speed of the first season. Go to Full Review

I've no idea where it's going, but that's hardly surprising because I've also no real idea where it went. I'll watch it all. Probably, so will you. Go to Full Review

How many other shows about alternate dimensions and Dungeons & Dragons monsters operate with such emotional subtlety? Haters to the left. Go to Full Review

The second season of Netflix's nostalgic sci-fi/horror series makes up for its lack of novelty by deepening its characters and making them, not the monster mayhem, the star of the season. Go to Full Review

A good follow-up season that may not live up to enormous strengths of the first, but does enough to keep us interested and excited for what comes next. Go to Full Review

Melchizedek Franz Noval S @Melchizedek Sep 17, 2026 Season 2 is where it really starts to feel bigger and more intense keeps the same fun mix of sci-fi, horror, mystery, and friendship, but the story gets darker this time around. I really liked seeing more of Will’s story and how his connection to the Upside Down becomes a huge part of the season. Eleven also gets more development, and her relationship with Hopper is honestly one of the best parts. The new characters, especially Max, fit in pretty well with the group too. The Mind Flayer is a great addition to the story, and the whole season does a good job making the threat feel much bigger than it was in Season 1. There are also plenty of creepy and exciting moments, especially toward the end. Not everything works perfectly, and Eleven’s solo episode feels a little out of place, but overall, Season 2 is a really entertaining and emotional follow-up, while still keeping the fun and heart that made the show so good. See more Family M @FamilyMovies1968 Sep 15, 2026 Everybody Loved Stranger Things! It was a funny, scary, and intense best TV show ever See more Esqueleto5678 T @RT15316404 Sep 12, 2026 Great season, but the quality drops considerably. It has one horrible episode, "The Lost Sister" (4.0/10), but overall it’s still good, and the ending is really strong. 7.5/10. See more Dixie M @DMDarne123 Sep 6, 2026 I have to admit this is good. See more Jasmine W @jasniquejewels Aug 31, 2026 not as good as the first season but very much fun to watch this show is peak! See more Sheryl V @sheryva Aug 22, 2026 I actually really enjoyed this season, even though it gets a little slow in places. Will's storyline was great, the characters felt more developed, and Steve and Dustin were such a fun combination. See more Read all reviews
