Difficult family relationships, trust issues and everyone is corrupt - that's how "Suburra" can be summed up quickly. I approached the series with expectations that unfortunately weren't met. I was looking forward to an exciting Italian mafia series and I got an extremely long-winded one, with characters that hardly develop and are played by actors who apparently only attended drama school for a visit. If you don't care about a very slow series with acting at a rather low level, you can definitely spend your hours here, but I definitely wouldn't recommend the series for anyone, who wants to have fun, because the series barely has any highlights.

Absolutely brilliant fantastic, following similar series like Gomorrah, this was my favourite only slightly though as I love them both ,truly excellent 😀

Great series, there are some unexplained holes in the plot, and some moments seem to be stretched (like the most powerful gangster in Rome personally kills people, risking by his freedom? seriously? he doesn't have his mobsters?) But overall, great story, amazing actors. Worth watching

Fast moving thriller that is worth watching. Overstated acting and semi credible plot but lots of twists and turns do seem to work and I wanted to keep watching until the very last episode

Authentic scenery. Great Italian dialogue and good acting. Feels like being in Rome and Ostia in the middle of an Italian crime drama.

I came across Suburra unexpectedly as I was looking for Italian programs on Netflix, and I couldn't be happier that I did. My father is an immigrant from Rome so I have heard about the different factions of the show throughout my life. I found it fascinating to see everything come to life and while I understand that much of the program is fictional, it definitely provides some perspective on the realities that the city has been facing over the years. I am just an average viewer, but I find the story telling and character development exceptional. For American viewers out there, I have been describing Suburra as a coss between The Sopranos and Sons of Anarchy due to the introspection to the various groups and the fact that I would suspect that many Romans would argue that it highlights the worst elements of Roman culture. I highly recommend that non-Italian speakers watch in the original language with subtitles to ensure that you don't lose the nuances of the actors' steller performances. For speakers of Roman dialect, you will inevitably enjoy the subtle details that are included in the dialogue. My one criticism as a speaker of the dialect (and I may be nitpicking) is that while the subtitles will allow you to clearly follow the dialogue, I found that there were often lines that missed the mark on the true translation of the various sayings and colloquialisms that were brilliantly interwoven into the script. Nevertheless in my opinion the show is very well done and I hope that there will be many seasons to enjoy. Bravo Netflix. Congratulazioni a tutti gli attori che hanno fatto una programma proprio bellissima e vi auguro bocca al lupo a tutti!

I have not binge-watched a full season since Breaking Bad, which says a lot about how engaging and spectacular Suburra is. It captures you from the first scene till the end.

Italy's answer to Narcos as other reviewers have already said, Italian with sub titles , not hard to follow and you can always pause and replay.
