The pace also allowed me to really feel the emotional impact of missing Dean, while also setting up a number of promising stories.
Supernatural is a shadow of itself, although it's still packing a punch. It's gone far beyond self-parody at this point, with its meta-narrative now part of the central plot.
There's an inevitable predictability that comes with being fourteen seasons into a show, but that doesn't mean it won't find new ways to make you cry.
Gripes aside, I made the decision long ago to stick with this show until the very end, and the latest installment does have its moments hinting this season's best is yet to come.
Maybe they're going with the slow burn before going insane, but in my experience, that isn't the best way to start off a season.
Ackles is doing a really nice job with cold, menacing Michael. But damn, I miss the hell out of Dean.
Dean's possession by Michael offers Jensen Ackles a chance to explore new and fascinating dimensions in his performance, creating a Michael who is creepy but undeniably compelling.
This sense of a full, lived-in bunker emphasizes how Supernatural is changing the way they tell the same story of family - by allowing that family to thrive, even at their lowest moments.
The beard actually works, if you ask me. Supernatural just wouldn't feel right without at least one Winchester looking scruffy and fighting the good fight.
Lobbing emotional curveballs at every turn and showing us just how this show can keep going long after other series have burned out.
The shift in status quo has been exciting thus far, and the show would benefit from continuing to lean into it.
Audience Reviews for Supernatural: Season 14

Oct 22, 2020The show has always been about the lead characters and this season continues the trend. The issue is the tiresome soap opera story-telling. The ending was great and finally provides a fresh new story for the final season. 22/10/2020Brendan O Super Reviewer

Jul 31, 2020At least it sets up some interesting ideas for the last season.
-
Jan 23, 2020The evil puppet master concept is an awful portrayal of the rest of the show. It doesn't do the show and it's villans justice.
-
Jan 18, 2020The theology of this show is mind numbing. It gets worse and worse.
-
Oct 31, 2019They have run out of stories and try to bring back the same characters again and again. The only the changing is that the characters keep getting stupider and stupider.
-
Oct 10, 2019Finally Supernatural took a turn for the better. Cannot wait for Season 15!
-
Oct 09, 2019We just watched the 14th season of Supernatural, It has some great episodes and played well on the past of the series. But what a cliffhanger. and the Motorhead song at the end last episode was so fitting and perfect for the end of season 14.

Aug 22, 2019I really liked Season 13 which topped off with 'Scoobynatural', but 14 has been a bit of a letdown. I am still impressed they held it together this long, but after 14 years and all of your characters have died, in some case several times, what do you do? Bring them all back for a bow out? Bring Jeffery Dean Morgan back for 1/2 episode to let him say 'I am proud of you guys'? And shuffle through bad guys a couple of times? You need a scorecard to determine who is good and who is bad for any given episode. The storytelling seems to be weaker and more all over the place this year.

Aug 07, 2019one of the best season finalys ever
-
Jul 06, 2019An excellent ending.waiting for next season 😍
