Our protagonist's violent-and not exactly believable-jolt out of her suicidal fog is typical of this overwrought, overwritten, and over-directed story, which overcompensates for the reduced screen size of a Quibi series with in-your-face stylization.

Easily the worst thing in the Quibi arsenal, this utterly ill-conceived show stars Game of Thrones' Sophie Turner as a suicidal young woman who -- after that cheery introduction -- is on a flight that crashes in the middle of nowhere.

Director Mark Pellington is one of the few artists to make aesthetic distinctions between the service's horizontal/vertical viewing orientations, rather than just resorting to pan-and-scan. Plus, star Sophie Turner is very good.

Turner and Hawkins are good with clunky material, and the cinematography impressive (from what you can appreciate of it on a tiny phone screen), but "Survive" nevertheless ends up wandering amidst its own clichés.
