Critic Reviews for Survivor Gabon -- Earth's Last Eden
All Critics (5) | Top Critics (4) | Fresh (2) | Rotten (3)
"Survivor: Gabon" must rank as the strangest of the show's 17 seasons. The inland location is part of it, along with the bizarre self-destructive tendencies of so many players
The tribes would have to elect a "leader," a completely arbitrary and toothless designation which only functioned to put a target on one person's back. Not that it stopped Probst from harping on the leaders' "failures" at every juncture.
Sadly, though, there seemed to be a curse on this exotic land: The able-bodied players here were less entertaining than usual and the weak, negative players were more chumpy and unlikable than ever.
It got better near the end, but it was still a case of too little, too late. The fact that so many unworthy players went so far is simply too damning.
It was a great season, but one with some seriously terrible players, and some odd, odd switch-ups.
