S2 took a hard turn and decided to throw everything away the first provided. It should have been a spin-off series since they wanted to primarily focus on a military perspective. I don't know why you would want viewers to journey with characters for an entire season to basically throw them to the side for a new story line. The only thing I could hope for is another country to adapt this and throw away the script for S2. If it were me I would copy the formula from S1. The group escapes, runs into a situation that makes them seek shelter in another building, like a hospital. They meet new survivors and have to work together to figure out more details about the outside world while introducing new monsters with unique abilites.
