More drama was needed for this third season. Bring on a good villain for season 4. Go to Full Review

Sweet Magnolias moves at a slower pace than the norm, which can be a refreshing experience in itself, especially when considering our hectic lifestyles, but even daytime drama needs some form of tension or conflict to function. Go to Full Review

Despite its issues, however, the season is a perfectly entertaining return to Serenity that ends up being better than its flaws. Go to Full Review

... While it’s certainly bingeable, it’s not necessarily… what’s the word… good. Go to Full Review

It feels rushed at times, overly formulaic and too dramatized. It’s not the best of the bunch, but it’s still worth its salt as the show continues to be a solid source of entertainment and an excellent display of sisterhood. Go to Full Review

Danny A @RT39169661 05/21/2025 Season 1 and 2 were quite well done, and season 3 would have continued the trend had it not been for the awful script and writing. Whoever was in charge of this season seems to have no connection to reality, because the reactions and emotions of the characters didn’t really make any sense. The character of Dana Sue I basically thought was an abusive and awful human half way through the season. Then the character of Helen is reduced to a crying emotional wreck (which also didn’t really make sense), and these three woman talk about ‘grace’ and scripture every two minutes, yet seem to haven’t absorbed any teachings whatsoever. I decided to take a break from the show and will probably jump to season 4, because this season is just so ridiculous. It’s a shame, because the character development on season 1 and 2 were really good, and the acting is solid, the filming and beautiful backgrounds are all great too, and the fact that it’s pretty much the only show on TV that isn’t explosions and guns is nice. Anyway, hoping season 4 makes more sense. The show presents a remarkable narrative, and while it encounters a few bumps along the way, these do not significantly disrupt the overall storyline. The first season left a lasting impression on me, particularly its conclusion. The plot is captivating, and the direction is superb, portraying the essence of a close-knit family in a small town, navigating their unique challenges within a vibrant community. Joanna Garcia, famously known for her role as Ariel in "Once Upon a Time," shines as the lead character Maddie. She delivers a powerful portrayal of a mother grappling with betrayal, striving for happiness, which she ultimately finds in Cal, played by Justin Breuning, an ex-professional baseball player turned school coach facing his own struggles. The juxtaposition of Maddie's unfaithful husband Bill, portrayed by Chris Klein of "American Pie" fame, adds complexity to the narrative, enriching the character development throughout the series. Logan Allen and Carson Rowland portray Kyle and Ty, two brothers whose growth is intricately woven into the storyline. Their journey is filled with sibling bonds, relationships, and even life-threatening moments, showcasing the depth of their characters. The addition of their younger sister Katie brings another layer to the story, although her character is not as fully developed. Seasons two and three maintain the show's high standard, with season three presenting a slower pace but still capturing the audience's interest. The creators excel at leaving viewers eager for the next installment, reinforcing the strong bonds and evolution of the characters. Annalise Judge plays Annie, a quirky girlfriend whose character fits seamlessly into the narrative, while Jamie Lynn Spears’ portrayal of Nora, arguably affected by her real-life experiences, feels somewhat flat compared to her co-stars. A standout moment in season four is the guest appearance of Jodi Benson, the original voice of Ariel, who shares the screen with Joanna. Their scene together is a magical nod to Disney history. Heather Headley, known for her role as Nala in "The Lion King," and Brooke Elliott, portraying Dena Sue and Helen, respectively, are integral to the best friend trio alongside Joanna's character. They exemplify the essence of unwavering friendship. While the fourth season is notably slower, focusing on themes of loss and mourning, it continues to develop the characters' arcs. I wholeheartedly recommend watching this show; it is a truly rewarding experience. See more Laura A @RT16982676 11/17/2024 Absolutely shocking season, in the worst way. All the hate on Bill, preventing him from seeing his children - he may have been a bad husband/partner but he's trying to be there for his kids but they won't let him. Then the flip side, Isaac being mad because he wasn't there for him - WHEN HE DIDNT EVEN KNOW. The argument between the friends when she just asked if she was happy - I really didn't understand it, especially Dana Sue's stance. This used to be an easy watch, with a bit of drama, but I can't finish this season, it's that awful. See more Renata F @RT02046283 10/05/2023 I loved this season, so romantic. For me, it's the best! See more Peter K @Vacadoug 08/29/2023 Time wasted. After a good start in Season 1, a mediocre Season 2, Season 3 insulted my intelligence. See more Charina M @RT22112392 08/20/2023 I use to love this show. It helped me when I was feeling down, but lately all I see is man hating and no forgiveness! I can get why Dana Sue and Bill are not chummy (after cheating on her and getting Noreen pregnant). But, y exactly is Noreen mad @ him? As a matter-of-fact, y is Peggy and Issac mad @ him? Noreen finally figured out that he wanted a her to stay home work the baby and do exactly like his ex did? What did she expect???? She was sleeping around with a married man! Isaac can forgive Peggy for giving him up but blame his father Bill who never knew anything about his existence. They won't even give the man a chance to earn their love but they just automatically forgive Noreen who screws around with other people husbands and helps to treat up a family and Peggy who is trying to play a victim and I see no victim @ all. All I see is a person who put the blame of her giving up her child onto Bill, who new nothing for years about Issac. This show use to show songs and forgiveness but lately all I see is that. Can I have the family show about forgiveness back? The show that use to make me feel better when I was feeling down? See more Read all reviews
