What really makes Sweet Magnolias so endearing is the interpersonal relationships, not just between the ladies, but between all the characters of the show. Don H @Candyone 4 days ago Please Brooke Elliot should have never been cast in that role. She is not a plus size women, she is obese! She has to have gain 100 pounds since her previous role. She is so big she can't even get her arms around someone to give them a hug. Her expressions are so fake and repetitive that they distract from the story line. I have never experienced families and situations as were shown in this series. I like happy endings but this is just way over the top! Other than that. I think it is a great show but one thing tat upset me was that Maddie got fired from her job I wish they gave her a better storyline in New York. The chemistry between couples was non existent and the same ole storylines and disagreements was so boring. I think this show has run its course. The writing has devolved into robotic "therapy-speak" where characters lecture each other instead of talking like real humans. Helen is completely ridiculous, turning every conversation into an exhausting courtroom monologue. Maddie is incredibly annoying and every conversation is a saccharine lecture, while Kyle behaves like an unrealistic, 40-year-old life coach. Dana Sue and Ronnie’s relationship is painful to watch, mostly because Dan Sue is so dramatic and Ronnie is an idiot. The finale of this season redeemed the show just a smidge.
