Critics Consensus

As comforting as a buttery biscuit from a friend, Ted Lasso's sophomore season is a feel-good triumph that plays into the show's strengths while giving its supporting team more time on the pitch.

Critic Reviews for Ted Lasso: Season 2

Audience Reviews for Ted Lasso: Season 2

I loved S1 of Ted Lasso but was surprisingly disappointed with S2. It felt like a PG version of Sex and the City. A soap opera aimed primarily at women. The writing felt much weaker, and the pacing dragged, especially in the first half. I'm not sure if I'll continue the ride for S3.

The second season has excellent performances, a fresh script and the amount of optimism that one needs to cope with life.
  • Sep 07, 2022
The first series was good with Jason Sudeikis taking it to the team. However, the second series faded away as the sub plots scattered across the board. It just got boring.

A terrible follow up to a near perfect first season, which should have been extended to 20 episodes or so to finish the whole story and complete all character arcs. It would have been perfect one off TV but, of course, any popular series needs to be stretched out over multiple seasons for the cash grab. This season feels cheap, as if ‘Eastenders' suddenly tried to become funny and edgy and there's a distinct lack of story and direction. Feels like padding with short lived conflict coming completely out of left field. Season 1 was one of my favourite shows of all time, whereas I couldn't even finish this season, bailing out at the penultimate episode. Such a shame.

This season is not funny as the first one. Actually, some episodes are a little boring and some gags are cringy.
