Season 23
The Bachelor

Critics Consensus

Despite going too far into virgin territory, the 23rd season of The Bachelor manages to mix it up thanks to a particularly eccentric group of contestants.

Critic Reviews for The Bachelor Season 23

Seen one way, Colton's season romanticizes conservative values and cultural pillars. Seen in another, it invites viewers to gawk at people with right-leaning values. Neither mode of watching is particularly pleasurable.

In case you thought that, after 22 previous seasons of The Bachelor, contestants would run out of ideas for memorable limo arrivals, this episode probably killed that doubt for you

It's also not a good sign when the majority of the lead-up to the action of the season is the host and the Bachelor sitting around going "A lot of people think that this was a bad decision but it's ... fine?" for 50 minutes.

Producers are milking his storyline for all it's worth. And it gets old. Fast.

Sends the wrong message to pretty much everyone.

The Bachelor even seemed aware that Colton didn't bring a lot of nuance as the leading man... His virginity and his jump over the fence weren't enough to sustain a whole season.

Jan 8, 2019 | Full Review…

I don't understand what point the producers are trying to make here by having all of these women relay whether or not they've ever had sex. It's just awkward and comes across as a little shame-y.

The virginity jokes were simply an accessory to the three-hour-long episode's main mission: killing time with at least an hour's worth of filler in order to maximize profits on what will surely be one of the season's best-rated nights.

Unfortunately, I think the question asked the entire season will be, "Who is Colton going to lose his virginity to?"

Colton Underwood is officially my favorite bachelor so far and this is my favorite bachelor season so far. I loved all of the celebrity guest stars that appeared on this season. I love Colton because he is such a nice and caring person. I love how he is not afraid to show and express his emotions. I hope that he and Cassie have a happy life together. I hope that Cassie doesn't break his heart again because I will be pissed off because he deserves to find love and to find someone who loves him back.
