In the Heck family, middle-age, middle-class, middle-America mom Frankie Heck (two-time Emmy winner Patricia Heaton) uses a sense of humor to try to steer her family through life's ups and downs as she tackles her career goals. Her unflappable husband, Mike (Neil Flynn), is a manager at the local quarry. Oldest son Axl is an obstinate young man; awkward daughter Sue cannot seem to find her niche -- despite much enthusiasm in her attempts -- and youngest son Brick is an unusual child whose best friend is his backpack.

The Middle understood and celebrated the family unit like few shows do. And the cast is one of the best on TV. Go to Full Review

It's the beginning of the end for The Middle, which kicked off its ninth and final season with an especially reflective premiere. Go to Full Review

Like a kinder but not entirely gentler Roseanne, this sorely under-appreciated comedy honored the struggles of the heartland middle class without taking itself too seriously. Go to Full Review

Justin @J_R23 Jan 10 One of the best sitcoms ever See more Ro V. @RoKnows Dec 31 If you are raising kids, watch this. Better yet, watch it with them. The series has everything... comedy, heart, life lessons...all built into consistently clever storylines and delivered by the perfect cast (primary and supporting). Watching this together with my family of 5 was truly special and the series finale gave us everything we wanted. See more Alice K. @GAMERALICE02 Oct 12 My comfort show. The Middle will always always always always hold a special place in my heart. I watch it nonstop.. See more Dylan S May 13 This show was very entertaining. The more you watch the more you want to see the character's success. I feel that as the show progresses Axl becomes a better and better character. Axl starts as a jerk, but as the seasons progress he becomes more and more mature. I thought that Axl and Mike were the only normal characters in the show. Frankie (the mom) was a hypocritical psychopath who cares for nobody but herself. She was still an interesting character because it was fun to watch her deal with her problems. Instead of helping her kids, she manipulated them a number of times. Frankie, along with the rest of the family commonly forgets about Brick (the younger son) His birthday was commonly skipped, for the entire show. He was presumed by his parents that he was 11 when he was really 16. Brick was even still an entertaining character. He used to be very annoying at the beginning of the show. However he becomes better and better as it develops. He has many quirks but they make him better. He somehow ends up getting a girlfriend (Cindy) and she is like him in many ways. They are both social outcasts and they both have weird habits. Cindy always wears a safari hat, and she is almost never seen without it. Though they are weird they still are a very good couple. Sue (the sister) is very kind. She is more of a mom to Brick than Frankie. An example of Frankie being a psycopath is when she steals a room at the hospital where Brick was born in order for them to be more comfortable. For the first month of Brick's life he was with another family because Frankie didn't pay attention and she brought the wrong child home.
