Critic Reviews for No Way Out
The zombie drama's return is a mixed bag.
Alexandria: This is the story of how you are reborn. About how you rise from your own ashes to become the first true city of the new world.
There has been lots of speculation about if and how Carl would receive his wound, a key event in the comics. The answer, it seems, is via a Rube Goldbergian family decimation machine. Glad that's settled.
"No Way Out," the midseason premiere of The Walking Dead's sixth season, is a pretty good episode of The Walking Dead.
"No Way Out" had its moments, particularly whenever Denise was on screen. Though the series overall has had nothing but contempt for most of the Alexandrians, the writers and Meritt Wever have turned Denise into an actual character.
The Walking Dead resumed with an action-filled episode, brimming with death and mayhem and concluding with what felt suspiciously like a glimmer of optimism.
"No Way Out" certainly ramps up the sense of tension and movement in an important way.
The Walking Dead's midseason premiere remembers why fans fell in love with the show and showcases each of those reasons in its return.
This is probably one of - if not - the strongest mid-season premieres we've seen. It's so big, it probably could have been a finale.
The mid-season premiere [is] gory, emotive, traumatic and just about everything we have come to love and sort of hate) about The Walking Dead.
Unquestionably The Walking Dead's finest hour, and tremendously inspiring for the series going forward.
The Walking Dead returned from its winter break last night with a bit of a bloodbath.
