If you're missing the authoritative patriarchs and reverential sons that are absent from today's father-bashing comedies, it's time for another look at The Andy Griffith Show. Go to Full Review

The first season shines when it focuses on Griffith's gun-free, people-focused peacekeeping methods, and on how he handles being the widowed father of an 8-year-old boy. Go to Full Review

The Andy Griffith Show, like that other "hick comedy" King of the Hill, has moments of genuine emotional drama and can tug at your heart strings while simultaneously tickling your funny bone. Go to Full Review

David S. @baxter667 Nov 6 A great show that has aged remarkably well. This show still runs on most retro networks and there is a good reason why. A show released at the height of television, this little show about a little town, has stood the test of time. Good acting, excellent stories, and a likeable lead, can't go wrong with this one, and this is a great season to start on!!! See more Nathan D May 3 Best show ever good for the whole family life lessons and more See more Micah H 09/02/2024 I grew up on this show, but it gets better every rewatch See more Mike P 10/02/2023 Sweet slice of Americana; so innocent compared to everything on tv today; and it's still one of the most beloved of all time. (Oprah Winfrey and various others have admitted it her favorite TV show...) A couple things I noticed re-watching these old episodes .. Opie calls Andy "Pa" in the first couple seasons... And eventually that changes to "Dad" as the show goes on... And both Andy and Opie's accents seem to soften and then disappear as the show goes on too. Also Don Knotts completely owned the show for the first few seasons... And he and Andy do a very funny country version of Laurel and Hardy; or Abbott and Costello. It's easy to see why this sweet show was so beloved! See more george m 11/30/2022 Priceless, Timeless, Pure Comedy. This show will play for 100 years. The characters and simple plots were awesome. No foul language or off color jokes necessary to secure laughs for this cast. See more Read all reviews
