Episodes
The 10th edition of this reality staple showcases Navy medical officer Andy Baldwin, who reports for dating duty in Los Angeles, where 25 bachelorettes await. In the opener, Baldwin meets the ladies at a party. It also happens to be his 30th birthday, and the women make a big deal of it. One does a backflip in his honor, while another sings "The Star-Spangled Banner." The first big prize is a "first impression rose," but 10 hopefuls receive no rose at all and must ship out.
The dating begins with an evening on L.A.'s Sunset Boulevard, but one bachelorette feels lost in the crowd. Andy then challenges seven contestants to a mini-triathlon in Santa Monica, but two prove to be divas, not athletes. And he spends a romantic evening aboard the yacht with "first-impression rose" winner Stephanie T. before casting off three hopefuls, leaving 12 remaining.
The 12 remaining bachelorettes endure a boot camp, and a drill sergeant---not Andy---gives the toughest lady a rose. But Andy does show off his bedside manner to a woman who is injured. Then he takes five contestants to a mud spa, where he gives one a massage, and accompanies four others to an auto race. Andy also goes on a two-on-one date aboard an aircraft carrier berthed in San Diego, but brings only one rose with him. After the concluding rose ceremony, nine bachelorettes remain.
Andy and the nine remaining bachelorettes head to Lake Tahoe in a private jet for skiing and casino gambling. But before the first group date can begin, one lady has an emotional breakdown. The first one-on-one encounter is in Andy's suite after the casino outing, and it gets romantic. So does the second, which follows the skiing expedition. And on the slopes, he gets the lowdown on what the bachelorettes are thinking. At the rose ceremony, Andy reduces the field to six.
Andy and four of the six remaining bachelorettes visit an L.A. elementary school, where they get down and dirty for a good cause: rebuilding a playground for kindergartners. Andy also spends time with all six aboard his yacht, turns winemaker during a one-on-one encounter, goes kayaking on another and dines with a bejeweled bachelorette in a Japanese garden on a third. Then he bestows roses on the four ladies who will take him home to meet the folks.
Andy travels around the country to meet the families of the four finalists. In Connecticut, Andy finds Danielle's family to be protective, while Bevin tells him a dark secret in Seattle. In Washington, D.C., Andy struggles to impress Tessa's family---and win her heart as well. And in Texas, Andy meets Amber's roommate and the youngsters she teaches. But what about her family? Back in L.A., there are roses for three of the bachelorettes, and tears for one.
Andy and remaining bachelorettes Bevin, Danielle and Tessa spend active days---and romantic nights---in Hawaii. There's cable riding, whale watching, snorkeling, kayaking, swimming and jungle hiking, plus a consultation with a psychic. But first, all four visit the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor, where Andy reflects on what life as a Navy wife could entail. And after he consults with his best friend, Andy bestows two roses. With them come invitations to meet his family.
In the season finale, Andy takes finalists Bevin and Tessa home to Lancaster, Pa., to meet his family. Bevin joins the Baldwins for lunch, Tessa for dinner. Then it's back to Hawaii for hiking, swimming, and romantic rides in a helicopter and on horses. There are professions of love from both bachelorettes, but Andy can respond in kind to only one.
Andy and his lady look back over their courting process. He also faces questions from the finalist he didn't select, as well as from Danielle, Amber and Stephanie T.
