Critic Reviews for The Boondocks Season 4

From its gorgeous backgrounds and the jazz-like quality of its stories to its consistently on-point writing, this is one of those shows you'll throw on in the background one minute only to start obsessively watching the next.

But Season 4's shaky landing was not disappointing enough to undo the show's legacy-which, by the way, includes a Peabody award for one particularly controversial episode.

This season has had very little as far as actual social commentary, real satire, or any of the insights you'd normally expect from this show.

The Boondocks is wrapping up its run by being more like Al Pacino as Al Pacino in Jack and Jill: a sad-looking shell of itself that sometimes recaptures its past spark but has seen better days.

It's a zombie show, like the Dan Harmon-less fourth season of Community. Something's off. You can't figure out exactly what, but you can feel it.

The new season is a copy of McGruder's baby made from a printer that needs a fresh ink cartridge. The clear, hard lines of McGruder's vision and sensibility aren't the only things that are a little faded.

Audience Reviews for The Boondocks: Season 4

While the fourth and final season of "The Boondocks" is painfully average, the show is still definitely worth checking out because the rest of it is hilarious. I think some of the razor-sharp satire presented in this show is even relevant today. I don't think the show is for everyone and certain scenes and episodes will feel like they're going overboard, but I had too much fun watching it to think too much on this. It's a smart comedy that had me laughing consistently most of the way through. Fans of edgy comedy and sly satire cannot pass up watching this great animated series.

The Boondocks Season 4 is pretty disappointing being let down by lazy writing and there's hardly any effort put into creative plot or character development. While it's enjoyable to watch Granddad getting hammered with a debt bill for taking out loans worth MILLIONS of dollars because of interest rate abuse it gets quite tedious after a while.

We're going to freedom - then we got to turn this bus around!

If you loved seasons 1-3 then you will certainly hate season 4. Totally different directors, producers, animators and writer. It is a complete insult.

I thought I was the only one who saw a drop off this season, lordy. I was so disappointed this season to be honest with you. I love the earlier seasons they were significantly funnier in my opinion

The previous 3 seasons had a lot more wit and humor than this one.

Aaron McGruder has left the Boondocks in good hands, don't read into the negativity, if you enjoyed the first 3 series, kick back and enjoy the 4th, it's well worth it.

It simply didn't feel the same, and for a series finale, the final episode didn't really tie anything together or end it in a way I could feel good about. It just felt like they cut the season short, like there should have been more but they said 'nah.' resembled the show I came to love but it didn't have the same feel...and where was Jasmine? I'm pretty sure she simply wasn't in season 4...

It was a good though probably shouldn't have been a series, more of just a collection of episode. It also did not have much morals a lot of the episode. Previous seasons you could've got something from. There isn't much of that in this season

The brainchild of the series was lost, as well as the heart and soul. The series lost its relevance and bite. Huge fan of seasons 1 and 2. Season 3 (the first season with which McGruder was not fully involved) was lacking and Season 4 was atrocious. I am very sad to see this series fizzle like this (no pun to the first episode intended).
