It's all good fun, even when it scores some serious points and has some serious scenes about death and dementia and loneliness. The cast is more than up to it all, and there are younger cast members contributing, too. Go to Full Review

It’s been called ‘Stranger Things’ for seniors, but it’s so much more as Geena Davis and Alfred Molina lead a cast of A-listers as retirees who take on aliens, aging and a society that sees them as invisible. Go to Full Review

The Boroughs makes literal the fears we all have about obsolescence and the end of life – that we’ll all be shunted and hidden away in a special place when we’re no longer of any use, just waiting to die. Go to Full Review

Despite some flaws, we believe "The Boroughs" deserves better than an early retirement. Go to Full Review

Though the convoluted plotting doesn’t bear too much close scrutiny, and though, being American and about old age, it can’t resist being schmaltzy in places, overall it’s a delight. Go to Full Review

Propelled by skilled veteran actors, the sinister, spooky, supernatural series has great promise - until the cheesy, predictable plot disappoints, concluding on an ambiguous note. Go to Full Review

John M @RT95854028 4h This show is bad. The main characters have to spend long, painful minutes explaining the asinine components of the plot that just don't fit together. The characters don't ever develop enough for you to care when their stupid choices lead to trite conflict. By the end, so many parts that never made sense are still dangling that you just can't care. Just really, really bad. See more Rob L @Billy2542 10h Was this a dare to see who could write the most boring series? Mind numbing. See more tarek E @Tarekelkhazen 17h An absolute pleasure watching!!! Amazing talented super cast and an amazing mysterious plot that just pulls you in to watch more and more from the first episode!!! Another genius hit by the Duffer brothers! See more Kevin C @KBCrowley1980 1d The show certainly borrows things that made Spielberg's extra-terrestrial films so great (a compelling emotional human core at the center, sympathy for the monsters, grounding the sci-fi in a real world, and sparsely using the very effective special effects) and things that really worked for Stranger Things as well (a sense of dread that packs real punches, a marriage between 80s Spielberg adventures and 80s horror). I don't know where it's going to go at the end of season 1 but that might be the strongest thing about the show. The secret world that exists behind the Boroughs seems to have just had its surface scratched when the credits roll. The cast is having a great time and reminding us that older actors can carry an adventure like this. In many ways, the wisdom and life experience that the actors have fuels the way the story unfolds in a way that younger generations just don't have. I am hoping that the show becomes even more intriguing in season two. See more Pablo B @PabloBlanco 2d Overall, it was an enjoyable experience, but I did notice a couple of missteps that stood out to me. The ending, for example, felt a bit anti-climatic and left some ambiguity on questions that popped up throughout the season. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone, but I was hoping for a bit more clarity and resolution. Additionally, I felt that Geena Davis was somewhat miscast in this role. Her delivery came across as mumbling and at times was quite difficult to follow, possibly due to her facial expressions. I think Elizabeth Hurley would have been a far more natural and fitting choice for the part, bringing a different energy and presence to the character. See more J.A. M @j_a_morningstar 2d Interesting setting and graphic design, well played roles, but lack of diversity and sense. It wasn't that scary and ominous compared to Duff brothers' Strangers Things. The ending was dull for me See more Read all reviews
