Superheroes are often as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians, and sometimes even as revered as gods. But that's when they're using their powers for good. What happens when the heroes go rogue and start abusing their powers? When it's the powerless against the super powerful, the Boys head out on a heroic quest to expose the truth about the Seven and Vought, the multibillion-dollar conglomerate that manages the superheroes and covers up their dirty secrets. Based on the comic book series of the same name.

What to Know

Critics Consensus

The Boys stays true to its form and completes its mission with ample panache, narrative pay-off, and an excess of blood and guts to deviously glorious effect.

While the political satire doesn’t always land, diabolism prevails -- The Boys will be The Boys.

The Boys’ latest comeback is proving to be promising, though, in a way that bodes well for the conclusion of a series that once felt profane, fresh, and exciting. Go to Full Review

The show’s fifth and final season has a familiar structure... But it stays strong – there’s even more gore and screw-loose social media commentary. Go to Full Review

The greatest existential threat in the show's final season turns out to be reality itself. Go to Full Review

Even at its most uneven, The Boys retained something many recent superhero productions lost long ago: personality. It never tried to appear safe, elegant, or complacent. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

There’s no world of the show anymore, just our real one. It’s so busy responding to or mirroring things from our own, it’s lost track of the thrust of the show. Go to Full Review

With earlier seasons, most of this sardonic imagery felt exaggerated enough to come off as political satire. But in this final season, the material has unfortunately aged like fine wine, much to the chagrin of Kripke’s razor sharp wit. Go to Full Review

Patrik M @RT37300545 Sep 4, 2026 You have not crossed the line by insulting Islam this is hilarious, because if Christianity can me made fun of, why not other religions. I hope you are severely praised for what you have done, and may non existing God bow before you. But really, the season was still good, but the hype was way out of proportions, Homie was still great to watch and so were other characters (except Kimiko's brainrot). See more Patsy H @patsyhaff Sep 1, 2026 Generally, I liked the ending. I know it wasn't true to the comics, but compared to some other shows over the last decade, I thought that they landed the ending quite well, especially with such a large cast and so many loose ends to tie up. Have to say - I really missed Maeve the last 2 seasons. See more Bashar M @RT23111537 Aug 31, 2026 You have crossed the line by insulting Islam this insult is unforgivable I hope you are severely punished for what you have done, and may God never forgive you See more Clara V @clarasis Aug 24, 2026 Lacklustre for no real reason. It could have so easily been decent. See more Melchizedek Franz Noval S @Melchizedek Aug 22, 2026 Season 5 brings the series to its bloody, chaotic conclusion, and while it still has plenty of the outrageous violence, dark humor, and insane moments that made the show so addictive, it doesn’t quite reach the heights of its best seasons. Antony Starr as Homelander remains absolutely terrifying, while Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, and the rest of the ensemble give the final season plenty of emotional weight. The higher stakes and final confrontations definitely make the season feel like the end of an era. The pacing can be uneven, and some storylines feel stretched or rushed. The satire is still sharp, but at times it feels less subtle and less effective than it was earlier in the series. Even some critics felt the final season occasionally struggled to balance its huge ambitions with its storytelling. I had a good time watching it. The Boys remains one of the most entertaining and completely unhinged superhero shows ever made, even if Season 5 isn't my favorite chapter. See more R K @coldax Aug 20, 2026 Very bad ending. Feels like it was made by completely different people. See more Read all reviews
