When an American judge known for anti-immigration views is found dead on the bridge connecting El Paso, Texas, with Juarez, Mexico, authorities from both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border must work together to catch the perp, a serial killer who is operating in both countries. Detective Sonya Cross, of the El Paso Police Department, works with Chihuahua State Police Detective Marco Ruiz, who knows about the slippery politics of Mexican law enforcement. Ruiz's whatever-it-takes approach doesn't sit well with Cross, who has Asperger's syndrome and a by-the-book attitude when it comes to the job. But the two put their differences aside to solve a string of murders on the border, which is already infected with issues that include illegal immigration, drug trafficking, violence and prostitution.

As the world around Cross and Ruiz fills in and the portraits of other colorful characters fill out, the center relationship between the two detectives settles into a reasonably interesting place and Season 2 develops a loping, pleasing rhythm. Go to Full Review

It may not have the mix down just yet - and that constricts its success - but at this rate The Bridge will figure out what works and what doesn't and then it may be able to ascend to the elite level it desires. Go to Full Review

Thankfully Daniel Frye (Matthew Lillard) and Adriana Mendez (Emily Rios) are back, and have been bumped up to series regulars (whoo-hoo!). They were my two favorite characters last season. Go to Full Review
Jessica Johnson Time Out Chicago 07/02/2018
While the splintered storytelling may frequently feal a bit messy, this ambitious border noir continues to exhibit great performances from its lead actors and the deliciously pulpy plotting remains hopelessly addictive. Go to Full Review

As long as Cross and Ruiz's renewed partnership seems necessary, season one fans should welcome the return of The Bridge. Go to Full Review

Mish M 10/20/2024 This series should continue. There are so many story avenues that can still be explored. Love the casts and writing. Will someone pick it up for season 3 please. See more Kim P 05/19/2024 It would get a 10 rating except for the fact that Sonia suddenly lost her Asperger's characteristics. The awkward body language, anxiety, weird speech patterns etc. simply disappeared. Unrealistic and unsettling. See more 02/11/2016 Love this series! The acting has me constantly up and down! Love the array of superb guests actors well! I have never thought about what really happens in towns on the boarders and this series has really opened my eyes and got my attention to how very different life can be. Appreciate the use of Spanish as an equal to English in this series as well. I read this series has ended and so hope it is not so. See more 07/05/2015 Loved it, but the story had played out, no? See more 06/10/2015 Excellent show. I learned about it last week and I couldn't stop watching. The drama, besides being very realistic, presents a very refresh and entertaining perspective of the detective genre. It's open minding and presents the darkness of the topic in a very subtle way without trowing at your face blood all the time (as SOA or Walking Death, which show more violence). The Bridge is vey unique: it brings new tv drama, provides a new setting and ambiance, explores the other side of the border, and the lead actors are excellent. It's sad to see it canceled, because of lack of publicity. I wish FX will reconsider its decision and choose quality over money, for once...yeah, right, in my dreams! Anyway, if there is a singing list to bring the show back let me know. See more 03/02/2015 This is a very interesting show that actually deals with issues that we see at the El Paso TX Border and the actors did a fantastic job. Why can't we give this show another season? I am sick of networks showing good TV shows for 1 or 2 seasons and then cancelling them and replacing them with reruns or reality shows.
