Critics Consensus

Like discovering a home video collection that should've never been unearthed, The Creep Tapes is by turns chilling and tedious as Mark Duplass patiently worms his way into viewers' nightmares.

The series is comprised of dull fragments, acting more as a disjointed vanity project than a horror story spotlighting a homicidal maniac’s bloodlust. Go to Full Review

At its best, The Creep Tapes transcends its content-mill trappings and becomes something approaching a work of art. Go to Full Review

While some episodes work and feel like fresh new products in the found footage genre, most do not feel so different from your average "V/H/S" film. Go to Full Review

Episodes that are only 30 minutes long shouldn't feel like a slog, but the repetitive plots, combined with the protagonist's relentlessly grating personality, make for dull viewing. Go to Full Review

The Creep Tapes takes everything that worked with the first two Creep films and gives viewers exactly what they want – more absurdity, more blood, more Peachfuzz, and more Duplass. Go to Full Review

Well, I feel like found-footage found itself at a dead end a decade ago, so the prevailing hope is that something compelling and/or funny is happening in front of the shaky cam. And that would be Duplass... Go to Full Review

Blayno @Blayno 4d Really good. Adds so much story to the Creep franchise. See more Keisha M. @RT51425514 Jun 2 I can't stop thinking about the TERRIFIC job the directors did in casting the lead roll for the original movie, then 2 seasons of the series with the same CREEPY ASS DUDE!!! IT KEPT ME INTERESTED....ALL THE WAY THROUGH!!!! See more Jorge H @jorge02 Mar 24 a great season to start this show See more Daniel L @Hotchopeppa Jan 3 Ok. Not great. Really liked the movie and really like that they tried to turn it into a series but it's a pale comparison to the original. See more Whitney C @RT04646038 Sep 7 I enjoyed the heck out of this series. Some episodes were strong than others, but fans of the movies will find plenty to enjoy here. Mark DuPlass is golden in this role. See more Josh A @RT94970263 01/11/2025 This isn't at the same level of quality as the two movies, but this is still a pretty solid Creep TV show. It's the perfect concept: what was on the tapes at the end of Creep. And it's done well. Most of the episodes are quite formulaic. Someone goes to do a job for Josef, he plays with them a bit, then he kills them. It fits, as that's how serial killers work, and it's cool to see different victims and their stories. There's still a lot of unexplored kills, after all. There are some departures from the formula e.g. Episode 5, which was quite a ride, but it mostly follows the formula. My favourite of the episodes, however, is the final episode. It's pretty normal, showing Josef visiting his mum, up until the final scene. Instead of being panicked, the mum just scolds Josef, telling him he has to bury the body this time. Turns out, she's in on it. And she breastfeeds him at the end. It just drives home how creepy Josef is. I think that's his name. Probably not. Overall, a great TV show that fits the vibe of Creep very well. See more Read all reviews
