Happily ever after is probably more possible for the royals these days than in previous decades, and season 2 of "The Crown" depicts the very human reason as to why this is so.

The Crown attains genuine sexiness without sex. Margaret, la Ms. Kirby's interpretation, smolders, as does Elizabeth, at least on occasion

As always, Claire Foy turns in an amazingly restrained performance.

All in all, I am so glad to be back in the world of The Crown, even though I'm afraid the episodes will still be too long and I'm gathering my strength to spend the next nine hours yelling at Philip.

Yes, it is still so lavishly made that it is breathtaking. But The Crown now leans toward a three-hanky weeper about marriage. It is less than it was, like the monarchy itself, and of interest to monarchy fans only. Pity.

Although encompassing just six years, from 1957 to 1963, The Crown retains its epic feel and abundant luster throughout Season Two's 10 hours, all of which were made available for review.

Helping cement how the palace wishes to be seen. This is a show so conservatively royalist in its myth-making, even Her Majesty is said to enjoy it.

As with the first series, The Crown's cinematography deserves a big, royal fanfare.

This 10-episode second season of The Crown is on one level a thoroughly entertaining exalted workplace drama where the setting is palaces, country homes and the changing monarchy of a declining Britain.

Slow, at times. But the way The Crown... keeps the audience guessing about marriages we already know the ending to is anything but boring.

Foy's showcase is putting on a masterclass in acting. I already miss her interpretation of the role she was born to play.

Lavishly presented and deftly written, save for the odd bum note and over-eager steer, the new series finds Morgan in confident form.

[Season 2] full of frustration and undeniable brilliance at the same time.

The look of awe on Philip's face as Liz pushes out that baby is really fun, I was pleased.

It is a shame The Crown Season 2 spends so much time on the terrible choices and behavior of its male characters, at the expense of following Elizabeth's growth in her role as Queen.

This is the history of the empire that it was. And, as we know, history will not have a happy ending. [Full review in Spanish]

In one of the best scenes of the series, Elizabeth gives her uncle an extraordinary dressing down, and it's truly her finest hour in the first two seasons of The Crown.

Foy's laser-focused performance - a master class of what an actor can do with stillness - is remarkable.

While ardent monarchists might bristle at the way this is going, for the rest of us it's getting better and better.

Beneath the creamy overlay of gowns, crystal chandeliers, palaces, uniformed flunkies and a sumptuous (albeit CGI-enhanced) Royal Yacht, a steely pulse of realpolitik fuels The Crown...

Morgan not only has a series to match his 2006 Oscar-winning movie, The Queen, but finally one to exceed it. The Crown -- the second season, anyway -- is magnificent.

It's soap opera presented with intelligence, taste and high production values, and it's a pleasure to watch, though the pleasure is perhaps more lulling than it is exciting or truly moving.

The upper lips remain admirably stiff in The Crown, but Season 2 takes what was a fine Netflix drama and polishes it to a high gloss -- presenting its stories more crisply, while providing a stronger showcase for its regal core cast.

But what is most striking and instructive about the second season of The Crown is Elizabeth's capacity to take modest but meaningful steps toward change
