Drawn out way too much. They should have landed the plane in 3 episodes.

Season 1:5/5. This was haunting, creepy and funny. I found that I was all for it from start to end. It keeps you guessing and asking a lot of questions which the answers are later revealed without it losing it's appeal.

Mikey's TV Review: The Devil's Hour (2022) Peter Capaldi continues to impress in a complex role against a winning, compelling performance from Jessica Raine. Awoken every night at 03:33 social worker Lucy Chambers worries she might be losing her mind. Her 8 year old son is constantly cold and emotionless and her mother converses with the air. Could serial killer Gideon provide her with the answers she seeks? It's twisty, timey-wimey plot might be too much for some, but stick with it for some genuine surprises in this slow but gripping psychological drama. Mikey's TV Rating: The Devil's Hour 5/5*

You can tell midway through the first episode that 6 hours is going to require stretching. The build-up to Capaldi's character (who's entire appearance totals maybe 1/2 hour) actually gives away too much, but that's what happens when you have too much time to kill. For the most part, it's the Jessica Raine Show, but I have to admit I never tired of her. She has an endless array of expressions, many providing needed comedic relief. Four hours would've been more than adequate, though.

just. wow. dont want to give anything away. for those like me who hate demonic or supernatural stuff that glorifies the devil, dont worry, this is a purely psychological sci-fi type thriller.

"The Devil's Hour" is a haunting descent into humanity's grasp with fate. The show wrestles with the fragility of memory and identity, exposing the spaces where wounds fester and trauma takes root. Co-creator Tom Moran lays bare the spaces between our waking lives that reveal the shadows we wish to forget. Jessica Raine carries the series as Lucy, a character suffused with grief, regret and longing. She embodies the struggle we all face, of reconciling past selves with the person we have become. Her performance breathes life into Lucy's nuanced journey of self-discovery and transformation through confrontation with her personal demons. Benjamin Chivers, who plays Isaac, gives a standout performance as Lucy's son. His ability to convey the confusion, fear and resilience of a child trapped between worlds is astonishing. He brings startling emotional depth and maturity to the role, anchoring many pivotal scenes with grace beyond his years. Peter Capaldi is equally impressive as the complex and menacing Gideon. He imbues the character with layers of menace, vulnerability and dark wit, making him a formidable and unpredictable foe. Capaldi brings an unpredictable intensity to the role, perfectly balancing moments of chilling menace with moments of uneasy humanity. His nuanced performance leaves the audience unsure whether to love him as a character or condemn him, highlighting the complex shades of grey within all of us. Despite being labeled the "bad guy", Capaldi infuses Gideon with a deep sense of humanity that leaves us conflicted about where our sympathies truly lie. The cinematography and score evoke a dreamlike, disorienting state that mirrors Lucy's fractured mind. The series probes the shadowy corners of the human condition with grace, compassion and thought-provoking depth. It is a mesmeric tale of memory, identity and the priceless search for meaning in an uncertain world. Everyone in this series, from the acting to the minds and hands behind the scenes, did an incredible job! Overall, "The Devil's Hour" is a riveting psychological thriller elevated by stunning performances, haunting cinematography, and a story that probes humanity's depths in profound ways. This is the kind of series that will leave you pondering long after the credits! Do yourself a favor and watch this remarkable series! The world truly needs a Season 2!

I had to watch it 3X to get all the subtle items, and probably still don't get them all. Starting to get the connection that the people "saved" like Lucy's mom have those disturbing ripple effects and that is how her mom connects with her son Isaac. Really like the fantasy-mystery mix. I fast forward through many shows because they are so predictable. I had to watch this 3X to "get it". Deserves 5 stars for keeping my cynical attention.

„The Devil's Hour" ist eine Drama -Thriller- Fernsehserie von Tom Moran… Eine perfekte Geschichte, eine Mischung aus Kriminal, Drama, Horror, Thriller und Science-Fiction… Eine Serie, die ich nicht so schnell wieder vergessen werde… Die Schauspielerische Leistung ist genial, besonders die von Benjamin Chivers in der Rolle von Isaac…

A show that knows how to keep you hooked in but at times is a frustrating watch. The performances of Capaldi and in particular Raine are fantastic and is the show's greatest strength.
